In summer also pools expect swimmers to first take shower and then swim.

April 10, 2023 8:43pm CST
In the major swimming pools in resorts the travellers are expected to take a shower first and then enter the pool. The reason is they might come from cool environment and enter water or the other way round. As it is summer the water remains soothingly warm in most part of India.

At a gym we used to belong to, they required everyone to shower before entering the pool. I was told that they want people to wash off (sweat, dirt, whatever else) first to keep the pool as clean as possible.

That is the reason since people have different forms of dirt, sweat and showering first helps remove the dirt

@Laurakemunto Right - and I guess they say so they can use the least amount of chemicals for the pool . . . keep it healthy as possible for everyone since it is for public use.

thanks Much to say, another reason is the body temperature has to match the water temperature. So if the shower is taken already body is cooled out and then entering the water is easy

I always shower before hitting the pool. I think that’s the reason why pools always have a shower next to it. When my son started learning swimming, they were required iced to shower first before hitting the pool. So it has also become a habit for him.

It's also the same protocol here. In addition, they require the people to wear swimming suits for women or girls and swimming trunks for men or boys in the swimming pool.
11 Apr 23
thanks shavkat that is good. In India if they dont have the costume they can hire one from the pool authorities and swim

We've found that in places too. I hate cold showers but sometimes the water is cold and you just have to go with it.
11 Apr 23
yes Judy i also love moderately warm water more than cold water
