Ice Gola

Most users here I notice are going through sweltering weather and when that happens all what one thinks of is something cold to quench one's thirst. Ofcourse there is ice cream, cold fruit juices and even soft drinks not to ignore ice cold water which I think is the best as it is safe specially for diabetics. But nothing like craving for the ice gola that not only quenches one's thirst it gets one in a happy mood. When was the last time you had ice gola? Image credit:

I never had ice gola, if this is what I see in this photo. I used to have Italian granita when I was young, or a "ghiacciolo" that is a sort of ice cream but made only with water, sugar and fruit syrup, it's sold on a stick.

Actually crushed ice is mounted on a stick and it is dipped in different kinds of syrups chosen by the buyer. Slurp, slurp, slurp

@allknowing Kala Khatta. Remembered the time when I was pregnant daughter's time and it was summer. She was born in May. At that time we lived in a place where we had power cuts every day for three hours. I would have ice gola daily. Sometimes 2/3 a day. When my daughter was born she had pneumonia and had to be in the ICU for a few days. After that, I have been having all pregnant women not to have too much of cold stuff during pregnancy.

@allknowing. Yes it is very popular among adults , but l don't indulge in much sweet stuff. I cool down with water , sometimes a piece of watermelon or citrus water.

It looks very similar to what we have here called an icee or a slush. It has been awhile, but I am sure I will have one this summer.

No ice gola here in Manila but it does look similar to our ice scramble. The ingredients are shaved ice, banana extract, milk, and sugar.

I try and rotate what I drink and will have chocolate milk, juice or just water. Sometimes I will have one soda pop without caffeine in a day.
