I think our senior citizen dog is going to...

...die. It has been two months that our adult dog aged 16 is becoming weaker and weaker. She is the oldest dog in the house and was the dog of my old man. I can feel that she will die soon. This is a sad part for having a pet. It was like our golden retriever died at the age of 8. He suddenly lose of appetite in eating and became weak. Our queen dog is showing these signs now. How would you feel about this concern? Image Credit: goodtherapy.org

I guess she is of the right age and is really old already. I am not aware what to do but I think you just have to wait for it since most veterinarians could not anything anymore when things like that happen.

You said it right. I keep on pushing her to eat lately. At her age, it is on her way to heaven. Vets cannot also control this.

It’s heartbreaking. We had to put two old dogs down. That’s why I won’t have any pets again.

I did. According to the vet, it is normal for her to be weak due to being old.

Pets become part of the family and when something happens to them it hurts. Can understand your pain just now. Lets hope your visit to the vet will help improve things.

We visited the vet and she just needs some medicine and supplements. If she is going to die, I cannot control this situation now.

Actually, she is in pain a few weeks back. We cannot figure why she is in this situation. Now, she is becoming weaker and weaker.

I always keep talking to her. She needs to eat, so that weakness will not set in. I really feel bad.

@Shavkat The last kind thing that pet-owners can do is to put their pets to sleep when they are no longer enjoying life.

8 is very young for a dog to die. I think I would take my dog to the vet and see if there was anything they could do.

We are trying to give what she needs. But she is so weak. I always talk to her every day. She is my dad's loyal dog.

I talked to my vet friend and he said that it is normal for the old dog to be like this. I need to keep on giving more fluid in her diet.

I have a senior dog too. I am sorry. My dog lost his appetite, but he is not weak. He is 10 years old. It is sad and I don't feel prepared to lose him. Sometimes I want to give up on my pets. I can't handle losing them.
