Have you been stung by a bee?

So, on Wednesday, a day I normally reserve for doing the trash/cat boxes, I accidentally made a doctor's appointment. This wasn't a major type doctor's appointment, it was my normal, monthly appointment so I can renew my prescription for hydrocodone. However, this appointment takes place near one of my favorite parks. I have a couple of them, but this one is near this office. I was nearly done with a book I was reading in the car, so I decided I would go over to the park, and finish the book. I had put a long sleeved, very light sweater on in the morning and, while it had warmed up, I wasn't uncomfortable in this sweater in the afternoon. So, I'm sitting in the car, I normally do it since it means I don't have to walk. I heard a big buzz sound near my right ear. I had been scratching an itch, but since the buzz stopped, I didn't bother to look and see what happened. Until I turned a page and looked at my arm. There, on the sleeve of the sweater, was what looked like a bee. Now, I have never been stung by a bee, or a wasp. I didn't plan on doing it this day either. I got the book in my other hand and stuck my right arm out the window of the car - this is the U.S. - so I had to put it across myself and waited. Now, like I said, I've never been stung by one of these things and I didn't plan to be stun. So I waited. And waited. And waited. It finally flew off, leaving me unstung. After being stung by a scorpion in high school, I developed a reaction to ant sings and mosquito stings. I dread to think what would happen if a bee stung me. So, have you been stung by a bee?

Yeah, it is a different toxin, but if you get a bad reaction to mosquitoes, I'd suspect you'd also get them from bees, maybe worse because they put more in.

@LadyDuck oh, I've heard that too, which is why I don't try to annoy them.

@ElicBxn - Usually bees are not aggressive. They are all around me when I work in the garden and I never had a problem.

Oh dear Close call. It's sore when a big bee stings us. One flew into my helmet and sting me at 60mph Ouch. I fairly pulled up at the side of the road and got my helmet off. The bee landed on the ground No I didn't kill it lol

Did it leave a stinger in you? Often you don't need to kill the bee that stung you because it'll die anyway.

@JimBo452020 If it ever happens again, take a credit card and scrape it out the direction it went in. It may seem to have gone straight in, but there is always a slight angle.

Frequently when I was younger. My skin would typically swell for several days and be painful to scratch as well as itchy. That will eventually go away with time. But before the pain starts to lessen, I have to put up with their stings for a few days. I have no idea how painful bee stings are where you are. There are many different species of bees, and some of them can cause a lot of discomfort. Unless you have an allergic reaction to it, ours is safe and does not present any risks.

@ElicBxn For as long as there is no bad symptoms showing up I guess its safe to just ignore it and after sometime it will go away.

@rsa101 well, she didn't sting me, because I just put my arm outside the window and waited for her to fly away. Honestly, that is probably what I would do if she had been a wasp too, nothing to eat, go find something...

I have no idea how painful they are either, and I do know there are many different species of bees. I have no idea what species this one was, but I didn't want to find out either.

@snowy22315 and if I'm not allergic the first sting, I will be on the second one. But since I'm sensitive to ants and mosquitoes after the scorpion sting, I don't want to chance it.

@ElicBxn I hope you can avoid it. It isn't pleasant. You could be allergic.

Oh, yes, bees and hornets love to sting me. I've been hospitalized several times from bee/hornet stings. It's a lot of fun! I always carry epi-pens now in case I get stung again.

Oh, wow! I do know a few people who, if they aren't carrying epi-pens, they should be.

@ElicBxn One of my older brothers also carries an epi-pen with him. The doctors told him the last time he got stung that he will die if he gets stung without using the epi-pen.

@DaddyEvil I have a friend who is like that. There was a wasp flying around when she and her mom and I were talking. She panicked and ran inside, her mom and I just stood still. However, in this case, it wasn't angry so it just buzzed around a bit and left.

I was stung by a bee when I was four, but I felt so badly for the bee. I think I was a weird child.

I guess he got stung around his head? He needs to be careful from now on, his next reaction might be life threatening.

I haven't, and I don't figure panicking will help keep me from being stung, so I didn't panic, I just calmly held my arm out the window until she few away.

Yes, I was stung by a bee in my head when I was little, it hurts so bad.. If the stinger remains in your skin you need to remove the stinger.

I have heard you have to remove the stinger, and I'm happy that I haven't had to try it myself.
