K planted two rose bushes in the backyard a few years ago, and they have bloomed nicely each year since.
This winter she cut them back, and for a while, it looked like they weren't going to bloom.
This week, the roses proved my worries wrong. As you can see in the photo, we have two lovely blossoms.
K hasn't been able to do as much gardening this spring. And now, we have a bird nesting on the top of our tower garden. I don't know why it chose to build a nest there, but it did.
Is gardening a pastime of yours?

At the other house, I had huge flowerbeds as well as grew bamboo and other "exotic" plants for my area. Since we moved 5 years ago, I've not been able to do as much in the yard as I did at the other house... I miss all my plants and flowerbeds.
The motto for growing roses is you have be cruel to the bushes if you want them to continue producing beautiful flowers every year. And those are beautiful roses.

I'm really interested in doing it but I do not have a backyard.

I was surprised to see a small rose growing in one of the potted taro plants. It's a mystery how it got there.

Oh, yes--roses are hardy. We had a wild rosebush in our backyard back at my house, and one year when my grandmother lived with us she practically chopped it down to the ground! I was upset, thinking she'd killed it, but of course it came back gorgeous as ever.
I like to garden to a point--ordered some sweet peas (flowers) for my patio. I don't know the names of every plant and what there needs are and all. I plant seeds and look at the instructions and hope I can keep them alive.
