Before this Sunday ends...

It's past 11 PM as I write this post. And Sunday on this side of the planet will end soon. But before it ends, I would like to make a post about our last Sunday hiking and trekking. I am always behind when it comes to posting discussions here
. Seems like no time in the world is enough to stay updated with everything happening at myLot.
Well, things went as per plan, at least most of it. We started all prepared at 4 in the morning and reached to the destination at 5. My husband and younger daughter went ahead with hiking till the top of the hill and that was seven kilometres one way. So, they did fourteen kilometres both ways and could go and see the beautiful temple on the top.
I saw few people opting for a trekking trail alongside the steep hill. There were few locals and few trekking enthusiasts there trekking. My niece and I chose to go for this path instead of hiking to the top of the hill. I felt a bit tired ( my monthly visitor was expected any moment) and also my knees were not willing for any tough exercises after a week full of long cycling trips and all walking and swimming. I wanted to go a bit slow. My niece, unlike my daughters is not into physical outdoor activities. She has recently started doing a few things with us after she started living with us. So, she also chose to go for simple path than the hills..Her stamina is still not upto mark to climb up a hill. So, we two chose to walk along this beautiful trail enjoying nature at our slow pace. It was so soothing and relaxing.
We didn't go too far with our slow speed
. When my husband called that they are heading back from top, we also took a U turn to meet them where we had parked the car. We reached and waited for them for some time.
Then it was the best part of the plan to enjoy our breakfast under the Banyan tree. We took our bedsheets out to spread under the tree. But then our plan had to be changed. All of a sudden we saw a troop of monkeys and we thought it would not be a good idea to have breakfast there. Well, I won't mind sharing food with decent courteous visitors but did not want to take a risk with this rowdy troop
.
So, we got into the car and husband drove it. We parked the car alongside the road and the place was full of greenery..we enjoyed our breakfast of potato masala sandwich and fruits in the car. Everyone was too hungry after the hiking and trekking..we couldn't wait to reach home to have breakfast.
Overall, it was a fun day
Picture is of the trekking trail that my niece and I enjoyed.. Isn't it beautiful
Take care in your myLot corner

Your photo is beautiful! And I wouldn't be interested in sharing my breakfast with a troupe or even one rowdy monkey.
I'm glad you saw them before they reached you and joined in for breakfast.
That does sound like a nice trip but don't think I'd want to get up at 4 am just to go hiking.

I'm glad you saw them before they reached you and joined in for breakfast.

@DaddyEvil I can understand.
Here I want to finish most of my chores by mid day and my exercises early. Later it is a bit hot and I get lazy. I just want to sit and enjoy being online

The beautiful hiking and trekking trails are on the outskirts of city. So, it's a bit of distance to drive and reach there.
. Anyways, ,5 AM is the usual time that husband and I wake up..so, it was not that early for us
It starts getting hot after the sun rises. Glad that we were done before it got hot. We did come back and everyone took a long nap of two hours

Sounds like nice trekking but unlike rain and cold that we faced in Nainital, weather was conducive for you all along !
We had Pooris, Halwa and a few more things over the weekend, so the Potato masala sandwich is no more exciting!!
Anyways just enjoy your time!
By the way, what is the maximum elevation on this trail in Metres?

Yes, the weather at early hours was good.It started getting hot slowly but glad that we were done by then.
..I will have to check for the maximum elevation. The total distance up to the temple was seven kilometres.
Your weekend meal sounds too good. I am getting the temptations. We planned to take poori and aloo jeera but then husband did not want any junk this week. Anyways, even potato masala sandwich is sort of junk

Yes such things are actually good sometimes and not to be had frequently.

Thank you Judy. It was indeed a lovely walk. Glad that we walked slowly to enjoy the nature. So many birds were chirping and it was beautiful before the sunrise.

@JudyEv I generally get up at 5. So, it was just a little before my usual time. And we all came back and took a long nap

@arunima25 The trees must be beautiful with those red flowers. What’s the name of the tree?

@RubyHawk I am not sure about it's generic or English name. It's called Palash in local language. These are palash ke phool( flowers). They are very short lived, just stay for few weeks in the Spring. I think they come again during October.

Those are red flowers. Spring is over and summer is here. We see many blooms falling from the tree.

I am glad that you liked it. These flowers are called Palash in local language. Not sure about their English name or botanical name. They have short life and stay for few weeks of Spring. I wish Spring was a bit longer.
All is going well here.
. Hope the same for you
