Today I went to the grocery and replenished the shelves that I left empty because I knew I’d be away for awhile. So, over some tomato slices and a nuked potato I’ll reminisce. I discovered something this past trip: do all the “heavy hiking” early in the trip. I have NOT spent 2/3 of the time in bed, trying to let my poor aching muscles recover. That’s filed away for future use. While you may have been bored, it was a great trip for me. All my favorite things: nature, waterfalls, and history. What more could I ask for?! Lots of beautiful scenery in Alabama and Georgia as spring fills out the trees. I’m so happy I got the Georgia state park pass. Of course, that means I have to go back and see more state parks. With doctors appointments and the uncertainty of next month’s social security payment thanks to the idiots in CONgress I’ll be staying close to home for the rest of the month. But fear not, the car can’t stay in the garage for long!!! Thank y’all so much for coming along for the ride! Here’s another photo of that beautiful Cherokee Falls in Cloudland Canyon State Park, Georgia.

The uncertainty? I must have missed it, and I’m surprised I did. I’m sorry.

They’re arguing about raising the debt ceiling, and the estimation is the government could default on payments as early as June 1. Of course, the politicians won’t miss a payment.

@FourWalls Oh, good lord. I didn’t realize that was a consequence of this latest squabble.

Those are beautiful falls. Are you saying no one might get their SS next month? Because if that is the case then I have to get myself into bed the last week of May and wait for one huge, massive anxiety attack from which I don't know if I will recover,

It’s one of those things “they” throw out there every time there’s a threat of a government shutdown or a debt ceiling issue. Don’t think they’ll do that because the backlash will be something the Republicans will never recover from. Glad you like the falls. That place was amazing.

@FourWalls well for now let's just say the most important people in my house are covered with both food and litter.

Our congress wants to play partisan politics with the people.

This rock formation is so similar to the one we have here where a river flows, I would say it looks exactly the same. Did I miss something about social security payments? I hope you are not going to have problems.

They don’t want to raise the debt ceiling because they’re (one party) and they think it’ll hurt (the other party). As Steve Goodman once sang, “the winner’s always someone else and the loser’s always us.”

I hope they quit playing around and pass a bill soon. We should not have to worry about getting paid because they want to be aholes

Thank YOU for taking us along. We'll get our SS payments. There would be too much of an uproar if we didn't. Have a great day.

@FourWalls I'm not really worried about getting our SS checks. I will throw a tantrum if we don't get them.

Since you like waterfalls so much, you really should take a trip to Hamilton, Ontario, where over 100 of them can be found. That's if you get your ss payments.

I hope that does not happen. There are millions of people that live off of Social Secuity only and they will not be able to pay anything.

Think Congress cares? The VA may be affected as well, meaning I’ll have to live off my good looks.

Whatever made you think we were bored? I certainly wasn't. And I do hope they don't start interfering with your payments.

I tend to go to places that have a “see one, you’ve seen them all” appeal to some people who aren’t mesmerized by history the way I am. Social security is supposed to be a separate entity, but congress keeps borrowing from it.
