Things are getting more interesting as they report about those tornados Sunday. They said it was on the ground for six minutes, which is three radar scans. Someone was asleep on the job! (They’ll probably promote him, because that’s government for you.) What can you do but sing? And here you can sing along with another song that turns 50 this year. Loves Me Like a Rock - Paul Simon As “oldies” get younger to me I get to hear songs that I liked in my 20s more. One of them is Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al.” I loved Graceland when it came out, but now I hear that song and think, ”THAT is the guy who wrote ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ and ‘American Tune’???” Yeah, that’s a dumb song. This one isn’t that bad, but it’s no “American Tune” (which was on the same album), either. It’s funny how it has a “gospel” feel to it (probably thanks to the Dixie Hummingbirds doing backup vocals), but there’s nothing “religious” about it (save, maybe, the line, “I’m a consecrated boy singing in the Sunday choir”). This is one of Simon’s biggest hits of the 70s. It sadly doesn’t get much attention anymore. I’ll blame Betty and Al for that. @FourWalls That was a good one too, but yes, me too like this one better. I really loved Simon and Garfunkel..wonder what ever became of them..I read they were hating each other all along.

@RebeccasFarm — it’s sad, isn’t it. “I hate your guts, Artie, but you make me a lot of money, so let’s tour.” “Ditto, Paul.”

I remember that song without listening for a reminder. I had at least one of their albums but don't remember all the songs anymore.

That was a long time ago. That’ll not intending to make anyone feel old but to point out how enduring their careers have been.

@FourWalls I don't feel old even after listening to music from yester-when. When I do puzzles with my sister we begin by listening to knights in white satin and then sings she liked when she was young.

Love Simon and Garfunkel, though they don't like one another. As solo artists not a fan of either though I do like this one

One of my favorite Simon albums and guess what, that song fits right in with my favorite rock-titled tunes American Tune a really good one too, with a Simon & Garfunkel folk feel to it minus one Artie. I'm sure Paul enjoyed that!

“American Tune” was Paul’s way of saying “I can be Simon & Garfunkel WITHOUT Garfunkel, thank you!”

Very energetic, and it does have a “spiritual” flavor to it (much like “Gone At Last”).
