He crashed his plane on purpose, to get youtube views and make money

What an idiot this guy is/was.
He came up with the idea of crashing his small plane, recording the entire thing, and posting it on youtube for views/money. He lied about everything. Claimed he was going to scatter someone's ashes, he already had a parachute strapped to his back (oh, how convenient!) didn't report the crash, just posted his video as soon as he could. He claimed to not know where the plane was. Then in about 2 weeks, he retrieved the plane and cut it in pieces, discarding all the chunks in different places so that he could hide the evidence.
Now he faces up to 20 years in prison. All for a youtube video.
Maybe I am not thinking about this in the right context, but if a person can afford an airplane, and then decides he wants money, wouldn't it just be smarter to sell the plane?
Like I said, what a complete idiot.

That's unfortunate but true. I have seen people doing all sorts of stupid things to get viral.

Youtube gives a lot of people who crave attention, the audience they desire. Plus, many people think they are going to make a fast buck, and unfortunately sometimes they do that while hurting others.

That's insane. But it doesn't surprise me. There is so much insanity going around that nothing shocks or surprise us any more. Internet and technology advancements are triggering more mental health issues.

It would have been a lot smarter to just get a job and make the money in a good fashion. Sometimes, it's hard to understand just why people do the things they do.

@MarieCoyle This is what it should be done every time. A crime not punished is an incentive for the others to imitate.

I personally think they will use him as an example of what not to do. I hope so, anyway.

@LadyDuck
It seems like every time someone does something crazy stupid like this, then other people try it or do something similar. But you are right.

He no doubt discovered that many people do online videos to attract attention, and more importantly, make bucks.

I could see it now. A comedian would say that the person who crashed his small plane to get views on You Tube needs to get his head examined.

@MarieCoyle That is true since some people think that being famous is a easy to deal with. It is not easy since the celebrity have gone on record as saying that the press paint their picture the wrong way to the public.

Whoever has the job of examining that guy''s head is going to find it is completely brainless.

All he really wanted was the views. He didn't care of the consequences. As long as the video is live, he earns off of it.

I just think this is ridiculous behavior, but then again, that's just my opinion.

Andy Warhol once said everybody would be famous for 15 minutes. Dumb @$$ way to get those 15 minutes.

He did garner attention, for all the good it did him. What a high price for a bit of fame and money.

That is the most idiotic thing I ever heard. He was probably not looking for extra money in the short term but rather more views on his channel to bring in more watchers for the future. A person needs 1000 subscribers before they begin to make any money.
