Do not assume

Assuming based on little or no knowledge can sometimes be fatal . My boss who I worked with years ago had this to say
"ASSUME is to make an ASS of U and ME
That is surely a powerful line and I am sure many of us have assumed and have been wrong specially in a virtual world.
For example native speakers' English is better than non native speakers. How wrong they are

Right, and there are different terms that countries use for one thing. In our country, we can call the comfort rooms in the house bathrooms or restrooms. Some countries call them lavatories, and public toilets as public lavatories. I learned a few years ago that the "john" is also an informal way for some Americans to call the restroom.
Because of many friends here on MyLot like Marie Coyle @MarieCoyle , OceanTiara @RebeccasFarm , AnneW21 @AnneW21 , and so many others, I have learned more about the English language. They are so humble and respectful in their suggestions, considering that English is only my second language. Hurray for you guys!

If I were in your country, I am sure I couldn't even begin to communicate with the people there. I wouldn't even pretend to! I took some Spanish back in the day, and two years of Latin. There is so much truth to the old saying ''if you don't use it, you lose it!''
As I have said several times, no one would ever know English is not your first language. You are a rock star, in more ways than one!

I remember that joke of assuming from the late British comedian Benny Hill on his HBO specials on television.

That line is truthful and also amusing and it was used in an episode of the American TV show The Odd Couple

There is a tendency for people to come to conclusions based on little or no knowledge.
