One of my favorite springtime sights are the numerous birds that arrive in my backyard chirping away with their happy songs. I've gotten to where I can match the sound with a particular bird, much like matching a guitar lick with a favorite rock tune. So, lets "sing along" to this week's rock-titled selections once you figure them out. Let me provide the first one to chirp along to. Comments, musings, your own favorite rock titled songs and trivia always welcome... 1. "Rock Show"- Wings -Sir Paul McCartney continued his sensational career post-Beatles when he decided to form a "Band on the Run" he named "Wings." What followed were a number of chart hits, and this rock-titled song was no exception reaching #12. Listen to this video tune from the album "Venus and Mars" and feel like you're in concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Enjoy! 2. "Rock n' Me"- Steve Miller Band -Miller and his band had three #1 singles this song being one of them. No "Joke(r)" he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. Fun fact: Steve Miller's song "The Joker" was another of those #1 tunes along with "Abracadabra." TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. The song's title starts off with the "word R.O.C.K." and ends with the name used for "the 50 states" which makes up America. The tune tells the story of how rock and roll emerged in this country with many artists taking personal risks for the sake of their music. This artist began his career using the "recording name of John Cougar." Being born in Indiana, this singer is known for his catchy brand of "heartland rock." Some of his hits include "Hurts So Good, Jack and Diane, and Lonely Ol' Night." -Can you name this artist and his "Patriotic rock-titled song? 2. This British group was named after a "Dirigible" or what we might call a "blimp." Although, this band used the "German pronunciation of an airship," named after the first man who invented one. The song's title is a common phrase used in the music industry which might mean to "rock out." The group was one of the first originators of the 70's "Hard Rock or Heavy Metal sound." This band's most recognizable song is "Stairway to Heaven." -Do you know the name of this hard rock band and their rock-titled song? 3. (Bonus) Speaking of blimps and rock bands who named themselves after one, do you know the name of that famous German airship that blew up in New Jersey in 1937? Let's hope you "don't get caught between a rock and a hard place" when figuring out this music trivia. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as Billy Swan would say, "I Can Help." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

Wow Ken! Robert Plant, how cool is that. And what is not surprising is how you "rocked out" those answers. Fun facts: Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham had his own private quarter mile road so that he could relax by driving his car down it at 250 miles per hour. Enjoy a little Rock and Roll...

Say what...Mellencamp is acting temperamental and privileged! That's sad to hear. Ouch, Sir Paul does not "rock your world." Don't hold back on your feelings about P. Mac, how do you really feel Nice comments, well not so nice, but always appreciated. And you did "rock out" on some correct responses, so there's that. Complete Trivia Answers: 1. John Mellencamp- R.O.C.K. in the USA 2. Led Zeppelin- Rock and Roll 3. Hindenburg Here's another song you can "rock along" to... enjoy!

What a coinky-dinky! I just used a Paul McCartney & Wings song in my countdown! 1. Ah, every time you bring him up, I like to quote that thing Weird Al did when he hosted MTV on April Fool’s Day: he had an “MTV News” segment where he said that John was going to start adding a new last name (this was right after he went to “John Cougar Mellencamp”), and his next album would be by “John Cougar Mellencamp Schwartz.” . He was born in a small town (Interstate 65 near Seymour is named the John Mellencamp Highway), and that’ll make you R O C K in the U S A (or at least in Indiana)! 2. Pb Zeppelin? You know, when Plant did that first album with Alison Krauss he said he wasn’t going to sing rock and roll anymore. I didn’t know if he meant he wasn’t going to sing rock music, or if he wasn’t going to sing the song anymore! Be more clear about this, Robert!!!!!! Bonus: that particular Led Zeppelin was named Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg.

Aha, spread those Wings and let Sir Paul and his band take you away to a hit song Robert would have to have "rocks in his head" to say such a thing. His voice was made to "rock and roll." Wow! that dude had some impressive names, lol. As always, for some enjoyable responses.

#1 John Mellencamp, ROCK in the USA #2 Led Zeppelin is the band. I don't know the song. #3 The Hindenburg, the pride of the German Nazi Party, blew up upon approach to landing in New Jersey in 1937. "Oh, the humanity!" was the often quoted reaction of a reporter who was live on the scene.
