I hope our Indian MyLot friends and their families were spared.

I just read that the death toll in the train crash in India has risen to over 230, and that it is expected to rise even more. More than 900 are injured.
We have a lot of MyLotters from India. I hope their families and friends were spared. The crash occurred in the Eastern part of India, and involved a total of three trains.
Thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.

We believe in ostentatious spending on parliamentary buildings rather than improving old dilapidated and outdated systems making us vulnerable to such mishaps....after all, 4 months of 10000 rich parliamentarians talking for stretch in well adorned rooms is what we got our independence for, the middle class and the poor are not important.

In recent times, a lot has been spent on state of the art detection and anti collision technologies.
Now I wonder
A)Are these technologies yet to see a countrywide implementation?
B)Was their human neglect or sabotage angle?
Were the clearance staff not alert enough?
Too big an accident and one that would make one think before boarding a train.

It was a very sad incident. I hope that in the future, wherever it is, there will be no more accidents like this.
