In and Out and In and Out and In and Out

Man, it was like a Who song!!!
I survived the pulmonary function test. For those of you who’ve never had one, the photo is a little bit of what you get: pinched-off nose while you breathe into a machine through your mouth while the technician says, “Breathe in and out, in and out, in and out, take in a deep breath, blowblowblowblowblowblowblowblow!!!”
In fact, I told her that she should just get “Squeeze Box” and play the chorus (“She goes in and out and in and out…”) instead of having to say it for four minutes.
She’s smart: she didn’t say “breathe normally.” As she said, “I’ve had plenty of people tell me, ‘There’s nothing normal about this!’”
So, instead, she said “easy breathing.” At which point I pulled out the phone and played Uriah Heep’s “Easy Living.”
The results were great. Thank God! The medicines are working well, and the doctor agreed that having 45 fewer pounds to breathe around doesn’t hurt!
The only thing I’m worried about is that we’re moving into an El Niño pattern, and I typically do very poorly in those weather patterns. But I’ll cross that bridge if and when I get to it.
Now I get eight days off before another doctor’s appointment!!!
Here’s the Who’s “Squeeze Box,” which I actually debated with my mother when I was 15 about it being a “dirty song.”

What they did not tell you is you probably broke those tests. They do not know us Navy Marine folk very well. We good at breaking tests.
I hope all the best and know you can even take a good laugh when needed.

It was the VA hospital, so they probably have a calibration setting for “sailor” or “Marine.”

I did that last year... It wasn't fun... Although the nurse was really nice and I enjoyed visiting with her.
We're home from an all-day session with the allergist and the eye specialist. More meds and Pretty got trained to give me the allergy shots at home... They'll ship the meds directly to us so the shots won't be late if I can't see to drive.
I go back on the 20th for the annual review with the allergist and in six months to see the eye specialist.
It's always something.

Yep. We say, quoting The Rolling Stones, “What a drag it is getting old.” Meanwhile the doctors say, “What a cash cow it is when they get old.”
I don’t know if they’ll have me back on allergy shots or not. I guess we’ll see how I do through the fall. I’m glad Pretty can give you the shots: I don’t think it’s that difficult, and it’ll definitely save you A LOT of money. I think they’re about $20-$50 a shot…and if you have to have three a week, cha-ching!

I'm only admitting to getting slightly older.
And the Xolair shots are $1400 each. I get two of them once a month. I don't know if it will be cheaper for Pretty to give them to me or not. Medicaid still pays the full price for them.

@DaddyEvil — if they pay for it then let them.

It sort of is a trip to Disneyland: costs too much, you do nothing but wait, wait, wait, and the medical procedures jerk you around like a roller coaster.

Seen that way is not very different. High cost wait for a long time for a very short ride.

Things were good on that one. The weird thing about asthma is I can get much different results after a bad winter or spring.

@FourWalls I know the problems well. My first marriage did not work out but through that, I got two awesome friends my sister-in-law and her daughter. Her daughter Monica has asthma and she has her moments. I remember a joyful birthday celebration that ended up with her in the ER due to a violent asthma attack. Still in touch with them today, Many blessings to you,

@FourWalls Oh, cool! I just gave away all of my hubby's Keys/Everglades shirts. They were all too small. :-( Hope you have a good weekend.

Thank you!
I’ve had to do it when my asthma was acting up badly, and it was horrible. Wasn’t too bad today, except when they blocked the airflow in the machine (that is intentional and part of the test)l

It played on the piped-in music at Putt Putt last year and I told my friend about mom thinking it was dirty and I (at the young and innocent age of 15) thought it was about an accordion. My friend said, “Never argue with Mom about something like that.”

I thinks it's a dirty song.
. My Ding A Ling is to. I actually had a complaint about that one while I was working at the salvation army.
Glad your tests were good

The Chuck Berry song will appear next month in a countdown.
Thanks, the test is tough but it wasn’t too long.

Definitely glad to have good results, but happier to have the test behind me. I don’t like the nose pinching or how it pops my ears when they shut off the airflow in the machine.
