Coots with baby coots

I went shopping down town again today. This time my Mum didn't come with me so I had chance to go and look in as many shops as I liked! It promised to be really hot so I didn't wear a coat at all, and I didn't even take one with me! I walked round the top path round Stowe Pool, seeing as my Mum wasn't with me, and I saw some coots with some coot ducklings! I've seen mallard ducklings often, but never coot ducklings so this was a first! Further round Stowe Pool there were a group of older looking ducklings, these ones probably mallard, that were snuggling up closely together, and it was so cute! I went to the toilet by the Cathedral first, then I went to Holland and Barrett and got some liquorice for me and my Mum, and my Mum wanted strawberry and cream flavoured sugar free sweets but they didn't have any so I got her some lemon and cream ones aswell.. Next I went to WH Smith to look to see if there were any magazines with Sam Ryder in. I found a rock magazine with Extreme in it, and it told me that they're bringing out a new album called Six, because it's their sixth studio album, which has a picture of a gorilla on the front! The magazine was called Rock Candy. I've never heard of that one before. It was £7.99 so I decided to get it. But I kept looking at other magazines to see if there was anything about Sam Ryder. And I found something! It was talking about Eurovision 2023. It had a list of all the entrants and then it had a picture of Sam singing his new single Mountain in the interval. It only took up the top half of one page, and only half of that featured a picture of Sam, the other part had a bit of a write up about it. That magazine cost £4.99 and I wondered if I wanted to spend that just for one half page featuring Sam Ryder. I decided no, but if the magazine's still there another day I might get it. I also saw a Record Collector special edition focusing on Duran Duran. Anyway I decided to just get the Rock Candy magazine so I went to the self service till and payed for it. After that I went to Tesco and got strawberries, 2 boxes of Alpen cereal with no added sugar and some Typhoo tea. They only had a small box of Typhoo T-bags so I had to get that. Then I went to the Works and got a packet of 2 rubbers and 2 pencil sharpeners for £1, and I went to get a pencil case. I got a Star Wars one which is supposed to look like Chewbacca! It's got long brown fur just like him! It cost £5. So I'll be taking that to art class next week. Next I went to the Oxfam book shop, where I bought 3 books about art, how to draw and stuff like that. 2 of them were £1.99 and the other one was £2.99. After that I went to the Waterstones book store to look for a book where I might see paintings of haystacks by Monet. I was looking frantically around for one and eventually I found one. It wasn't a very large book and it was £9.99. It had 1 picture of the Haystacks in it. So I got that. Then I set off for home. I went to the toilet by the Cathedral and then I really set off for home! When I was by Stowe Pool again, nearly at the end where you go down a slope to reach the road, I saw the coots again with their ducklings, so I got my tablet out and took a picture of them, which is what you see above. Sorry they're so small, I hope you can see them. Maybe you can use a magnifying glass! When I got home I gave Mum her change, her Tesco club card and her shopping list back. Then I told her about the lemon and cream sweets and said if you don't like them I'll have them! and she said, Oy! I unpacked the groceries and put them away, and showed Mum my Chewbacca pencil case and my book on Monet. Then I got myself some lunch. What have you been up to? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day/evening/night.

I love the sound of your pencil case with the long fur! And those little ducklings look very cute. The mothers are so protective of them.

It’s a great picture. And I think if I ever go overseas, I’m really going to need to head to the nearest Tesco.

Yes, I thought so too. Yes, I could go to more shops when I'm on my own. If my Mum was with me it would take us all day! Yes, I like my Chewbacca pencil case.
