Time to say bye to this rock titled series and focus on some summer enjoyment. How about a cookout with some shrimp on the barbie or maybe grilling a "Rock Lobster." Bet the B52's could go for that!
A rock song I've played before by this quirky band, and the fun lyrics never get old for me. So, grab a sea creature for a dance partner, give it a listen, and "rock out"
Here are this weeks "rock and roll" titled songs. Comments, musings, your own favorite rock titled songs and trivia always welcome...
1. Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo- Rick Derringer
-Derringer recorded this song for his first solo single in 1973. It was his biggest hit as a solo artist. You might also remember a popular song released by The McCoys in 1965 that Derringer played on called "Hang on Sloopy."
Fun fact: The song is wildly popular in Ohio, especially at Ohio State University, where it is the signature song of their marching band.
2. Rock and Roll Woman- Buffalo Springfield
-This band combined elements of folk, country, psychedelic, and rock into a successful but brief tenure. Like the Byrds their music influenced what would later be called Country-Rock.
Fun fact: This song was written about rock superstar Grace Slick, a member of the band Jefferson Airplane.
TRIVIA CHALLENGE
***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues!
BONUS CLUE!!! Every song title in this week's picks begins with the words "ROCK AND ROLL..."
Name this week's tune, artist or facts:
1. Chuck Berry was a rock n' roll legend and released this tune in 1957. The song was about a guy who will only dance to rock and roll. The Beatles loved this tune and recorded it for their own album and often played it in their live shows. The Beach Boys recorded their version in 1976 reaching #5 on the charts. The "song title is what this post is all about." Rock and Roll __________."
-Can you correctly complete the "Rock and Roll song title" and fill in the blank?
2. This band originating in "Boston" had their most chart success in the "mid to late 70's." This song is on their hit debut album in 1976, along with other tracks like "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind." The song is about a "Boston bar band" paying their dues before being discovered by a major record label. The title of this song is "Rock and Roll" _________ . Insert "another word for group" to complete the blank and name this tune.
-Can you name this group and correctly complete the blank to name their song?
3. This English band was formed by "Steve Winwood." Their successful debut album featured the popular song "Dear Mr. Fantasy." They followed up that successful formula with another well-received LP, and another popular tune "Empty Pages." Their 5th studio album, "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" included the track "Rock and Roll Stew."
-Can you name this band?
Now we don't want to be as "dumb as a rock" when figuring out this music trivia. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as Billy Swan would say, "I Can Help."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned...

1. Teresa Brewer approved of that question, because all she wanted was having you and music, music, (rock and roll) music!
2. They were just another band out of Boston, as the first song on side two of the first album said. I was tired of that album by then. I know it’s a big classic, but it wore thin on me. Not a big fan of that Rock and Roll Band.
3. Do you realize that Steve Winwood was only 14 when he joined the Spencer Davis Group? And do you know why he left the group you’re referring to in your question? His mother told him not to play in Traffic.
(Boo, I know)
Until next time….

Never could forget and love Chuck Berry's Rock and Roll Music. Even though I have done posts about songs with rock and roll in the title somehow the others have me stumped.

Yes, "Back in the High Life Again" great song and great album. Steve had given up recording after Traffic retiring until he resurfaced in 1977. "Higher Love" is another favorite of mine.
Between his stints with Traffic Steve Winwood formed the supergroup "Blind Faith" with "Cream" superstars Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker.
Oh yes, and you "rocked those answers!"

Enjoy a bit of the High Life...
