Hi everyone, generally speaking I am more use to microsoft laptops. I would like to know though what is your experience with certain brands? Do you recommend one more than another? My main question would be how long do they on average last for you to enjoy before ultimately you need to switch?

Many many years ago I would hear the phrase, "once you go Mac, you'll never go back." I was a Microsoft user back then. My very first desktop computer was HP then my laptop was Toshiba and then I switch to Sony Vaio. I never understood what the phrase really meant until I decided to give up on my Sony Vaio and bought a MacBook Pro. That's when I understood what the phrase meant and since then I never went back to using a Microsoft computer. When my MacBook Pro turned 5 years old, I switched to the latest MacBook Pro.

I agree with you. I had often heard the same thing too. I finally made the switch to Mac, and I will never go back to other brands of laptops.

Hi Toni, I have thought of doing so to but for one reason or another I have not. I use the numeric keypad a lot and would prefer it to be included in the keyboard. I also noticed they removed the USB option. I inquired about customizing but they stated they don't do so. lol

I've always bought Microsoft laptops and desktops. I have had several tablets running Android programming and prefer Android phones. My laptops and desktops last around 8 years before I have to either reprogram them or buy a new device. (I still have two laptops that are running Win7 and one laptop that is running Win8.1 that can't be upgraded any further. They still work fine but I rarely use them anymore.) One of the laptops is a NetBook that is over 10 years old. One laptop is an HP and is 8 years old. My current laptop is about 1 year old and it's an HP, as well.

Hi DE, I have had a few laptops that last some years but then they start running slow and can not be upgraded to the newer versions. I am hoping to upgrade to the newest windows home system. The laptop I recall that lasted the longest was a Sony Vaio after that my HP probably went three years before it just gets stuck a lot and I cant do much with it. I am using a Lenovo Chromebook currently but it has some delays and doesn't load some pages properly idk why lol.

@wendyy Older laptops had to have the programming cleaned every couple of months to keep them running at top speed. As a person uses them, they get broken links or messed up code from use. How old is the Chromebook? And how much storage does it have that is still unused?

@DaddyEvil I think I have had this one maybe three years. It was given to me so it may have been used prior not sure how much. It says it has 6.6 GB. 3.7 GB is in use.

I hope someone can help you as I am just not familiar with laptops. I'm sure others will have plenty of experiences to share.

I use a desktop, I do not want Windows, I installed a Linux system on my desktop. Hard to find a laptop that does not come with Windows installed.

@wendyy We asked and the fact to remove the Windows hard disk and to install a new one to install Linux did not void the warranty here. You have to ask to be sure. Microsoft has been sued here for obliging people to keep their operating system.

Oh I have heard of being able to do that. When you do so, does that void the warranty or is it fine to change it?

I prefer Apple products, and had a MacBook Pro laptop for nearly a dozen years. Never had any issues with it.

@moffittjc Oh yes that's another one of the reasons I also want a lot of memory and a numeric keypad lol

@wendyy Yes the higher the gb ram is the better. Make sure to get 500GB of SSD. It's important to have enough space so you can work smoothly.
