I turned on the TV (nexflix right now can only be seen from my laptop) and just then detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) blew the brains off the bad guy. JEEEZZZ!!!
Mariska Hargitay is a good actress and very different from the blonde bomb that was her mother, the late Jayne Mansfield.
These detective and forensic serials stay on for so many seasons that literaly devour the actors that were part of them.
David Caruso was Horatio Caine for so long that he became him. The same thing happened to some of the actors of NCIS and the other CSIs.
Most of the actors from Friends just disappeared after the show was cancelled. Jennifer Aniston was maybe the only one who went on with an acting career.
I think that actors earn as a whole less in movies but have more interesting roles.

Each of the actors in Friends have done other projects...they are just not as visible as Friends was. I think actors earn far more in movies than on TV with the exception of the Friends cast. They earned $1 million per episode. Some movie actors get $20 million or more per movie.

Matthew Perry (chandler) had a flourishing movie career after Friends ended. He hasn't done much in the past few years.

I think you're probably right. Certainly a lot of actors seem to fall by the wayside once they get older
