A matter of preference..

Deciding on what reborn kit I should choose, my very first consideration was it must be a sleeping one.
I actually don't like the awake ones as I find them creepy, especially my son, Craig. I'm not sure if it was because of the horror films featuring dolls like Chucky and Annabelle. I never saw Annabelle by the way. I've seen Chucky which I found funny and not scary at all.
There are people who don't like the sleeping ones. I saw one lady saying that she feels like she's staring at dead babies.
So it really depends on one's preference. I'm happy with how Sophie look by the way and she doesn't look like a dead baby.

While I was working at Walmart, I always hated straightening up the toys because there were always the little dolls that start talking to you when you walk past them. That always creeped me out.

I like the peaceful looking ones. There are dolls that with closed eyes that don't look peaceful at all.

There are factory made dolls that close and open their eyes. But they just look like dolls and not real babies.

They just look peaceful when they're sleeping. Though there are dolls that don't look peaceful at all.

I would prefer the sleeping one. I would get creeped out with an awake one, I wouldn’t like the eyes staring at me.

They could pass for real babies. I think I would not one that is awake either, for as you said dolls can be creepy.

They could. The artists make sure that they would look as close to the real baby as possible. And those sculpt are actually from real live babies.
My Laura sculpt, for example, sculpted by Bonnie Brown is from a real baby named Laura. The daughter of Sylvia.
