Erewhon Market

United States
July 6, 2023 1:31pm CST
On YouTube, I'm subscribed to a farmer in Vermont who left his high paying job to live out his dream life. For some reason he's in Los Angeles and made a video about this store which supposedly is the highest priced store in America. (I think that is what he said) While talking he's sipping a 21 dollar smoothie that he had just bought from there, and it's crazy some of the prices in the store. Beef is around 55 dollars a pound--I haven't finished the video yet so I'm sure there are other surprises in store (sorry) for me as I finish. I don't think I could ever spend that much money on food even if I was a millionaire because the guilt would kill me and I would rather give it away, but that's a decision I will never have to worry about. Even Benjamin Franklin look quite disgusted on the image at these people. Have you ever shopped here or heard about the store? I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense since I've been up all night and I'm trying to stay up all day to go to sleep early tonight.

I was really surprised with your title because I do know Erewhon Market (I am in L.A.). Not that I go there, it's still too far for our regular grocery shopping - but yah, it is super expensive. I don't know about what that guy saw, but there was this teeny cup of soup (or was it fruits) - and it was like $15 which I wouldn't pay for. I guess it's a high end health food place - I'd expect it to be pricey.

@misunderstood_zombie I wouldn't be surprised if they did shop there. I'm not sure where they all live now, but if was Calabasas as in the past, there is an Erewhon there . . . I think one in Beverly Hills too.

I guess if the Kardashians ever shopped anywhere this would be the place.

Okay, why did you stay awake all night and why are you staying awake all day, too?

My sleep schedule is just so messed up. I'm a night owl anyway but lately I've been going to bed when the sun is rising and I'm tired of it so this is my masterplan to stay up all day and go to bed at a normal time.

@misunderstood_zombie Oh, I see... I LIKE being a night owl. I usually sleep from about 7 am until around noon and then go back to sleep around 2 pm until 5 pm. I hope that works for you.

That man took the risk. I hope I can watch that on YT. Maybe next week or after my father's bday on Tuesday.

I never heard of it but I am not gonna pay more than a hundred dollars for 2 pounds of ground beef. I will become a vegan

I wouldn’t shop there even if someone else was paying.

Some of those "gourmet" stores are like that. They think they are all that, and I know there is some snob appeal people get from shopping there. Of course if someone wants to pay 4x what something is work, for snob appeal, have at it.
