I'm Back Home

I was off the grid for a little while camping with my son in the Cascades after two months of moving around different places in Oregon. I'm now back home in Eastern, Washington. I decided to stay in the Winery RV Park where I was back in April and was approved until September 1st when I leave for my camp hosting job. I may come back in October or November and stay for the winter but at the same time, thinking of extending the hosting job since they are in need for October. I finally reset my miles and gallons on my truck but before I did, I went a total of 2275.9 and 181 gallons. I have a 27-gallon truck. Doing an average, I got about 12 mpg pulling my trailer but coming up over White Pass, WA Thursday, I got 7 mpg. I don't know where that 12 mpg comes since most the time I saw it at 10 or 11 mpg. I'll catch up soon. I hope you all are doing great. I am finishing my laundry at my son's house and then heading back to my trailer. I arrived at the park yesterday (spent the night at a winery Thursday night) so playing catch up with chores. Have a good safe Saturday.

I always hope everything works out for you. (I'd hate that gas mileage but I'm just driving a car around and usually get decent mileage for a Buick LeSabre. I hope you're enjoying your evening. I just got out of the shower after mowing the front yard here. I'm tired now.

I've owned two Buick LeSabres and miss them. Best cars ever. Since I've been back, that same 1/4 tank I got back with has lasted me a week. I do need to go further on Wednesday so will need to finally gas up. Sure is nice not using a lot since back. Hope you got some rest. I'm wanting to go to bed already.

@noni1959 Since I "retired", we fill the tank up about every month or month and a half, depending on how many out of town doctor appointments we have. Sometimes 1/8th of a tank lasts us two weeks. Especially when the car just sits in our driveway. Today Pretty had a doctor appointment so we had a lot of driving. We got home around 5 pm and I took a nap... Still tired, though. I hope you have a good and restful night.

@DaddyEvil I'm in a tiny town so everything I do is within a mile. Wednesday, I may drive to the bigger city for Costco. It's iffy. Rest well. I'm shutting this down in a few and going to read and maybe sleep early for once.

Enjoy your travels. I hope you have fun as a camp host but I guess there will be plenty of responsibility as well.

Thank you. There will be. my son and doctor both are worried about the yurt cleaning part. My disability can cause me some grief when i do too much. Like now. A new area in my back is in pain along with the rest of me. I have done quite a bit this past week though.

@noni1959 So I'm guessing you have to clean the yurts after campers leave. I hope you cope okay.

Oh my gosh only 7 mpg holy smokes that’s bad mileage. It sounds like you have been busy but enjoying yourself. I’m happy to see you around again.

I'm sorry so long to reply. I just haven't been on again. I've had so much going on that I'm just tired when I get back. I will catch up. I know I keep saying that but will. It's so nice to see you.

@jstory07 Me too. I'm tired though and want some quiet and downtime. I want to sleep so bad right now and there is some party going on over at a winery not too far. It echos.

It's making a difference. There is work involved but it's not too bad and you can meet so many nice people. Off days, you can go explore. It doesn't pay in state parks. Strictly volunteer. You only get your host camp spot with full hook ups free in exchange for 28 hours a week of work. Where I will be in September, I get full use of the laundry area the rangers use. I figure I pay close to $800 where I am right now and if I didn't have my son near to do laundry, I'd be paying close to $15 or so a week. Evens out.

@RubyHawk The park I'm in right now is a popular park that fills up for the vents around so certain months they don't allow long term. They are making an exception for me when I want to come in now. I'm tired so not sure how long I'll move around or if I will come back here in October and stay put through the winter. I can find something to host for every month.

@noni1959 Sounds interesting. Do you have to move every fall or find parks where you can stay several seasons?

It is at times. In the summer, it can be hard to get reservations. I love exploring.

I like Fort Stevens. I was going to apply to host there for September since they put out a notice of need for that month but took the one in WA instead.

I'm in need of a quiet vacation in a cooler area and a fire at night. No responsibilities. We'll see how that happens.
