Can you pre-reserve something?

Pre-reserve

I know that to reserve means that you do something that ensures you get it when the item is available. But how do you pre-reserve something. You do something that helps you reserve the item later? Isn't that a double way of doing something by duplication - doubling the effort to get it? Or is this an accepted word/phrase?

These phrases are nothing but to trap you to buy a new phone or product that you don't need immediately.

@pitstop That's true. That a tricky way of selling goods.

I’ve never heard of pre reserving anything. I don’t know how you’d do that.

I'm not going to fall for this and buy it.

@pitstop I suppose you’d reserve something and reserve it again before you could get it.

A lot of stores will allow you to pre-order something (in fact encourage it to get the early sales). Pre-reserve, could easily be the same as reserving or pre-ordering depending on the country in which you reside.

But why the 'pre' in the term?

@pitstop Hard to say. When you translate words into other languages, some things get lost in translation.

It sounds double Dutch to me. Do you know that term? I hope so.

You reserve something usually before it's available to the general public. Enjoy your day.

Now, it looks like we can do more and pre-reserve it!

That's a really good question, I've never done anything like that before.

Maybe that is their way of trying to make something sound really important, when in reality it is just the same as regular reserve?

Amazon allows to "pre-order" an item that is not yet available. It's a common practice also here.
