It Never Rains…

After my visiting mum in the nursing home near Peterborough, I was hoping that events were settling down. Her flat was being modified so she could retain her independence and was planned to move back this past Monday. Unfortunately she had a fall and broke a hip. Turns out she actually broke her femur and there may have been a bit of internal bleeding. Surgery to repair the injuries was successful and the day after they were encouraging mum to to do some exercises. As I was in Peterborough, I took plenty of photos. Here is one of City’s older building. I think the picture explains it all!

I'm so sorry your mom fell and got hurt. I hope she heals from the injuries and the surgery quickly. You always post such interesting historical photos. Thank you for that.

Mum is 85 and I know how long it takes me to heal! Sounds as if she is having fun with the interns as they get her moving. I do enjoy history and exploring around and about

@Ronrybs I understand.... As long as she's having fun, it's all good. I like watching stuff about history. I'm not so much about doing the exploring myself.

@DaddyEvil I, too, have been pretty lax about getting out and about just lately. My list of things to visit is getting ever longer and nothing has been crossed off for a while

@RebeccasFarm She is in Lincoln at the moment following a complication, but could well be enroute to Skegness and a seaside nursing home for some rehab and therapy

These are lovely clear photos. I'm really sorry to hear about your mother. She would have been so looking forward to going home to her own place.

@Ronrybs I get a needle every six months which is supposed to help with preventing osteoporosis. That's such a shame for her. Is she far from where you live? I hope not - and you don't have to tell me.

@JudyEv Normally she is some 80 miles, or so, from here, but the hospital is in Boston which adds another 20

Sadly, it is one of those things. I think she has osteoporosis is involved

It'll take time, but I am hopeful she will be able to go home soon, but it is probably a good few weeks away. The picture is a view from Peterborough of one of its oldest buildings, the wool combers house

Oh I am so sorry about your Mum. Falls can be so devastating. But good news about the surgery. I hope she continues to recover. Glad you enjoyed the city. The photo is great. Amazing to see the old ones still standing.

You hear about it, but until it happens to someone you know you never realise how bad it can be

@Ronrybs I know that is right. My Grandmother fell at 85 and broke her shoulder. Never recovered.

Your poor mom. It’s got to be hard watching her go through hardships like this, but I am glad to hear she is doing better after surgery. I really like your picture.

Mum seems quite cheerful, all things considered. It is a bit tough sitting down in, near London, while it is all happening over 100 miles away. Thank you, at first I didn't think it the photos had come out, but not bad. Sadly, some others didn't make it
