I am famous for calling a spade a spade and then get into trouble. Whether offline or online no one wants to be told the truth. They want to hear what they want to hear. Diplomacy seems to be the name of the game but is diplomacy another word for hypocrisy? No doubt one does not have to be unnecessarily frank but at times it becomes necessary to tell the truth. I cannot think of calling a spade a heart What about you? What's your choice?

It depends on the situation and the person/people I'm talking with. I prefer to be direct but can easily be diplomatic if the need arises.

If there are just two answers to a situation in what way can you be diplomatic?

@allknowing Even a direct answer doesn't need to be unduly harsh. We can soften the language we use and still be direct.

I agree with you. I like to call a spade a spade without hurting any feelings if possible.

@RubyHawk It is easy to be tactful here as honestly speaking we are not directly involved with the welfare of users here

@allknowing I don't believe I've hurt anyone's feelings, if so I didn't intend to.

With me, it depends on how well I know them, and what I surmise about their mental state. If they are in a vulnerable way, I'm going to tell them what they need to hear, but in the kindest way possible. With men though, I admit, I am quite frank in spelling it out to them because that seems to be the most effective way. If I have to be frank with a woman, I go on a case by case basis. I want them to really hear me, but if I don't consider the best way to approach them, it might go in one ear, and out the other.

I think people should go to you for advice on how to call a spade a spade and yet make it look like a heart

There is a saying that goes "The truth hurts." when I make a statement on social media that offends sports fans or their favorite celebrities.

Being direct is not always a good thing, depends on the conversation. I am not saying to be dishonest, being tactful is always a good thing in my opinion.

It is not always possible to be tactful but yes being direct is not often appreciated. Are you good in being tactful?

Am always blunt about everything and careless about people and what they think of me why lie? Why tell you something you wanna hear instead of the truth? Am with you in this more than 100 percent
