This story happened before the floods hit the state of Vermont since the story occurred on Independence Day.
Burlington residents Steve and his wife Shannon Lipkin were aboard their boat on Lake Champlain when they saw two raccoons aboard.
The couple who were in the boat admitted that they were sacred seeing the raccoons as stowaways aboard but since they are animal lovers and they do not want to harm the racoons by throwing them off of the boat into the lake, they took safety precautions by using cushions as a barrier before they went back to shore safe and sound.
The couple did do the right thing not to upset the raccoons who were inside the boat since raccoons have diseases on them like rabies according to officials with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department.

That is true that racoons are good looking with their eyes looking like bandits wearing masks.

I love raccoons; but unfortunately with the rabies, you can't get too close. I'm glad the raccoons went ashore! Enjoy your day.

I like racoons myself but I also fear getting sick from rabies myself. Thank you for the kind words.

That would be shocking. I could see something like that happening around here.

I would avoid getting close to a raccoon myself for fear of getting sick from rabies myself.

It has been terrible for wildlife in the areas where the flooding happened even though the news reports have not mentioned how bad the damage to the forests in the area.

That is true since rabies is not the only disease they have on them.

That is true since I remember in the situation comedy The Honeymooners there was a lodge named after the racoons.

That is what the couple inside the boat figured out that the two raccoons just wanted to get aboard their boat.
