My Depression is Gone, Thank God:)

Some get tired of hearing this, but mental issues are torture. Others who don't experience this, basically don't understand. Having a black blanket over my head for days, that's how I describe these negative moods. And having a supportive husband seems like more than I deserve, at times. I never know when this will happen, Jay experiences it also but, not as often as before. Little by little, God is teaching me to control those negative thoughts, that drag me down into a pit. Today, things looks beautiful, everywhere I look! The Bible teaches, "if God be for us, who and what can come against us?" There's victory over every attack of the enemy, it's a promise in God's Word. Photo: Mine

I am so glad to hear this, Kharla. I feel like praising the Lord with you! People who haven’t experienced it, just cannot fathom what depression can do to a person.

I have had depression in one form or another for as long as I can remember. I have had a real struggle to find a medication that actually works too. I was so thrilled when I finally did. I learned a lot down through the years about it and that really helped. Some people still don't take it seriously but, at least, there is more known about it now. I had to take a medical leave from my last job. I checked in with my manager weekly. One time he said to me: " Why don't you just come back to work?" Some people just don't get it.

@kobesbuddy ........I have learned so much over the last few years about symptoms and such. It is a lot more complex and unless a person cares and gets involved they just don't get it. It can be very frustrating. I'm glad to hear yours is behind you.

Or possibly they reply, "Just get over it and stay busy! Get off the sofa and work a job!" Wouldn't this be nice, if those things actually changed our state of mind? My mother actually got mad at me, when she heard that I was hospitalized:( She didn't understand! @celticeagle

I can relate to being depressed since it is hard on mentally not to be able to work due to a natural disaster like a storm hitting my neighborhood and being helpless to do anything to do about without help from family and strangers.

It's not fun, especially when others make fun and say it's to get attention. Those people don't know the truth. @Deepizzaguy

I'm glad yesterday was a good day for you. I pray that every day is a good day for you. Do you mind my asking if you are on any medications? I know my meds work wonders for me. Some people don't like to take their medications. Enjoy your day.

@kobesbuddy I was on just Venlafaxine, had some major issues; so he added Abilify. Now I'm great. No depression symptoms at all. We'll see how long it lasts. Have a good day.

Kudos on that, since I am still unsure how to handle it. It might be perplexing for me at times since enthusiasm can be misinterpreted as anxiousness in my instance. As a result, I avoid doing things that thrill me since they cause my worry to surface. Others argue that idleness generates worry, but for me, when my mind is idle, the inclination is just relaxing, and they do not look threatening.

One son suffers from depression and I know he really battles at times to keep himself on an even keel. I'm glad Jay understands and is supportive. I'm sure you're just as supportive when he has bad days.
