Is technology developed for good or evil? Very shocking

Hello
Today I was looking at the tech news and I was very much shocked. It made me run a lot of questions in my head, about development.
This is all about gaming, I know many entrepreneurs have came up with ideas in the development of the game industry but what I saw today was very bad, shocking
That a VR headset is used to play fighting games and when you die the game the headset also kills you, I really don't know how that courage comes to the person developing it, it is not yet in the market but all I know is that they are still developing this gadget .And no one is stopping this invention
Just always be careful with this modern technology it may destroy ones future.

I know the use of AI can end up being dangerous, but hopefully there will be a "work around" to keep from a scenario as was depicted in I Robot for instance.
