Stronger winds are here now (+ a pot of mussel soup for lunch)

It's 12:13 p.m.
I have just propped a pot of mussels in water on the kitchen stove and then headed back upstairs for a bit of online stuff. I've got four large windows here in my corner and I can hear the strong winds brought about by Typhoon Doksuri. It's only Signal No. 1 in our region (Southern Luzon) and we've got but a few scattered rains so far. It's Signal No. 3 over in Northern Luzon where the typhoon is likely to make a landfall.
I'm adding just a few cloves of garlic to the mussel soup, some moringai leaves, and half a thumb of young ginger that I harvested from the front garden. Salt and pepper to taste. Soup is gonna be paired with last night's arroz a la cubana (minus the fried bananas) which I'm currently reheating on the other stove burner.

Thank you. We're okay where we are but there's been flooding and damage elsewhere. Typhoon leaves tomorrow, I think.

Soup was good. No apparent damage in our area but there was flooding and landslides north of the island.

It was okay for me but my husband says he expected more slices of ginger in it.

We're good here but our farmlands in the north have been swamped. Typhoon reached Category 4 status.

Yes, it's also called 'tinolang tahong.' I'm glad your place isn't affected by the typhoon.
