Mylot is Far Better than Hubpages and Medium

July 27, 2023 11:20am CST
I find Mylot a lot better than most online content websites. Take a look at Hubpage, they impose some ridiculous requirements on the content you can submit and they may close your account even without a notice. You may end up writing 100 long form contents and earn $1 or less. They dont care about you. Medium on the other hand has a decent pay but they you will require at least 100 followers to start monetizing your content, and this can take more than 6 months unless you want to overwork and burn yourself. Kudos to Mylot where you can earn right from the first day of membership.

well as I know hubpages is actually like for content writers, and mylot is just like a social media. where you post about your daily life..

I am a member of HubPages for a long time. I had no idea they can close your account at any time and without notice. You can post pretty much anything you want there. What you can potentially earn on HubPages though you can't earn on mylot. I wish that their minimum to get paid was not $50. It can take a very long time to reach it these days. That's the case for me anyway. Unless you are able to get lots of traffic to your stuff there on a regular basis. I used to be able to get to $50 in 2-3 months. Now, it's taking me over a year I think and I am still not there.

@ogbenishyna No problem. I have a lot of stuff unfeatured due to traffic there. I would have to edit it all, even if just very little, to try and get it featured again. At least everything is published though.

I find Hubpages difficult because of the high payout threshold, myLot is much easier, although you do get the chance to be an Amazon affiliate on Hubpages and I have made a bit of money there but still not enough to cash out after several years.

I have heard of Hubpages and Medium, but never tried writing for them. I’m glad you feel Mylot is worth the effort.

Yea, I have only been here for a few days and earned almost 40 cents. I was on hubpages for over a year with 100 long content and barely made over a dollar. I have not earned anything on Medium because I am far from 100 followers.

I am slowly migrating my fiction content off of HubPages. Most of my serialized novels and novellas as well as a few of my short stories are already off the site. I recently started on Medium and a few days ago, they sent out a notice that as of 8/1, they are dropping the 100-follower requirement. It seems like Medium may be a good site for my short fiction. I'm posting my longer work to Kindle Vella.

@ogbenishyna Yes, Medium is dropping that requirement. There are other stipulations one must meet, but they are not as big a hurdle. Ironically, I have reached 97 followers in 7 months and will probably make it to 100 a day or two before they drop the requirement.

That's very great news for beginners like me who don't have followers

What? They are dropping 100-follower requirement? That sounds like a very good news.

myLot isn't a "content site". It's set up to let people talk with people around the world and make friends with them while exploring the differences between our cultures. myLot is a social media site.

@ogbenishyna I was on HubPages but left when it took a week to make any money there. Do you mind if I ask what is your home country? You don't have to tell me or anyone else if you don't want, though.

I have never heard of Medium but I am on Hubpages. I think that myLot is easier and more fun. I was also on a writing site called Bubblews , this was about the best writing site but it closed down several years ago and there has been nothing like it since.

Honestly I have been here in mylot for more than 10years but I havent reach yet the minimum for cashout. I'm just staying here because I like this site than any other paid forums.

myLot has been paying….. well, a lot more than I remember it paying. Maybe that’s all I should say about that. But anyway, HubPages sounds like it will take forever and Medium, I was checking it out the other day and it’s one of those sites where you have to hope people read all of your content.. but first you have to “build an audience” and all that, nahh.

yea, having to gain 100 followers to monetize your content on medium sucks.
