Heinz 57 Meatloaf

When I moved away from home in 1977, it was my first time doing everything for myself. One of my favorite foods was and is meatloaf. I especially liked cold meatloaf sandwiches. I still do. I originally found this recipe on the back of a Heinz 57 bottle and it was the first recipe I ever used to make meatloaf. It was very good. Not fancy, but it had a good taste. I loved being able to take meatloaf sandwiches to work for lunch. Heinz 57 is a type of steak sauce. For steak, I like A1 better, but it's still good. I don't know what those of you living outside the United States might have in your country, but you could probably still make this recipe using whatever sauce you have that is used with steaks as a condiment.

I always hated the meatloaf mom made while I was growing up. After I moved out on my own, I tried making meatloaf and loved it. I don't know why mom's meatloaf was always dry and tasteless. I don't use "sauce" of any kind on it while it's cooking. Sometimes, when I make a sandwich from meatloaf, I use Blue Cheese Dressing on it. YUM! In my opinion, a good steak only needs some spices on it while it's kissing the flame and then it's ready to eat without any sauce at all. YUM!

I've never tried it ON meatloaf. I usually have brown gravy if I'm eating it hot. I might have to try it now.

Heinz 57 is good, but I never buy it and have very little use for it. But I imagine it would good in a meatloaf. As for meatloaf in general, I just love it, and I am right there with you on cold meatloaf sandwiches. That's good eats!
