Feeling A Little More Overwhelmed

This year I think Andrea and I bit more than we could chew. We have a big holiday coming up to the Philippines for my sister's wedding which costs a lot of money. We also decided to buy a flat which is waiting mortgage approval. And also hoping to move if we manage to get everything sorted before my holiday. And also we have decided to get married next year which means we also have to plan the wedding and find a venue. I find myself panicking about all these things hitting me all at once and sometimes it makes me emotional. These are things I look forward to doing but money-wise it does feel almost too much.

I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. But you aren't alone and that helps a lot. You always have Andrea to turn to if something feels "too much" for you. I'm sure everything will go well for you. Good luck!

He is actually more chilled about it. The wedding will be set in Italy so I worry as my Italian is not there yet. We definitely need an English speaking priests and accommodation for my family from different parts of the world.

@DaddyEvil Yeah it frustrates me because if this wedding will be in the Philippines it can be bigger and easier to organise with my mum's help.

I can imagine how overwhelming this must all feel, but there is no one better to go through this than with your soon to be husband. Sure, it’s all stressful, but with him, you can have the assurance you won’t have to go through it alone, and you can take one thing at a time. Perhaps you can cut back on every day expenses to at least give yourself a little breathing room; to just feel like you’re doing something to lessen the burden on yourselves. It will all be worth it, and in another year or so this will all be behind you. Try not to forget to take in these potential joyful moments as they come. It’s okay to allow yourself these emotions; just don’t cheat yourself out of potential blessings throughout the process. You can do it.

I am trying to save 400£ a month from my salary to help with my going home. I should be focusing on the potential goals as you say. If only the world does not cost so much these days. But I guess I will feel better once things unfold one at a time.

@flapiz The cost of everything IS crazy, you are right. Some of these prices seem like a bad joke.

@AmbiePam For Philippine holiday alone I am expecting to spend at least 3k as most of my colleagues spent around this range. Ticket was already 800£ per person. It is ridiculous but it cannot be helped.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I understand how you feel right now. It appears that there are numerous things to keep an eye on and spend money on, and that the budget does not fit well. I believe you should just relax for the time being and face them one by one until the day comes. For the time being, just enjoy what you can and have, and things will fall into place as they get closer.

@flapiz I think you should be preparing to come home for your sister's wedding and maybe get some inspiration for your upcoming wedding too.

Yeah I know it will ease up as things start unfolding. I need to exercise my patience on these matters.

Thank you Arthur. It is good news despite the stresses it is causing. Is it a unicorn in Camden too or a normal horse? In Guernsey they have Puffins.

@flapiz A horse, called Charlie, my picture of him won't upload sadly - link to page on him here
We are delighted to unveil our new horse statue, designed by the children of Richard Cobden Primary School, and the opening of the Charlie the Horse Exhibition. This artwork was created in 2021 as a part of a competition to reflect the theme Camden: Past,

You could save a lot of money if you and your guy just elope.

Ahahaha or just a civil wedding but I think my family will be quite upset if it is like that.

I can understand that with everything going on you feel overwhelmed at times. That is a lot but just take a breath and breathe when you start feeling like that. It will all work out .

It will definitely work out. I think once the wedding date and venue is secured I can breath a little bit better. Andrea has been my rock.

You do have a lot going on, and these indeed will cost you some. But I think you will be able to pull it off - for one thing it doesn't seem like you're alone in this, and also, one step at a time. Good luck!

It is a great consolation I am in it with a good partner. My family is not much help at the moment as they are busy with my sister's upcoming wedding.

@Raine38 No I will marry next year as this year would be a bit too little time to plan. I don't believe in sukob next year I am marrying in June and my brother is marrying in September. It should not count if it's a different country.

@flapiz Do you also plan to get married this year? I am not sure if you believe or subscribe to the "sukob" thing, but just curious.

It can be very overwhelming, but you are taking important steps towards a future great life. So I think it will be well worth it in the end. Just remember to stop and take a deep breath every now and then and say to yourself, “I can do this!”

Thank you for the wise advise Jeff. I do have to think about the final outcome and not ruin the moments by having the wrong mindset. I need a breather.
