Tonight I was watching a movie called "Cast Away" with my husband and I gotta say we both loved it. It's about a guy who has to survive by himself on an island. The way he didn't give up and struggle for four years is pretty impressive. I know it's just a movie but some people has been through this in real life. The part where the actor successfully lit a fire made him so happy taught us how important little things are and there true value. If you were cast away on an island what would you do?

I would do a lot of praying and hope that I get rescued by an angel of the Lord.

I remember when that Tom Hanks movie came out. It certainly was successful. Honestly, I'd probably try to survive a month or so, and if by then no one had found me, I'd probably give up, and let myself die. Let myself might not be the right words. Maybe not try as hard? I'd probably not make it a month anyway.

It's crazy how our brain works in different situations and it teaches us how to survive. Maybe you wouldn't give up. I feel like I would but I also know how creative our brain is in a hard situation. It was a good movie. I'm glad we watched it. He is a great actor. He even lost so much weight.

@BabeSays I know, can you imagine how hungry he must have been?

@AmbiePam Oh my god...I kept thinking about that. I'd be sick of eating coconut all day too. Poor him. Then eating fishing raw fish and if cooked he had to eat it without seasoning. Food with no salt. I felt his pain but I was glad to see him with Wilson. He finds happiness in him.

I loved Cast Away - I've seen it a few times throughout the years. I've often thought about "what if it were me". I don't know that I would have done as well as he did . . . he was quite resourceful to deal with solitary life on an island!

Yes, that was what was on my mind too. What if it was me? He was so brave.

Indeed life on an Island without any resources and electricity would be hard.

I remember that Tom Hanks movie. I would not be a good cast away. I am anxiety prone and would probably start off by having a huge anxiety attack and then I don't know what would happen to me afterwards. I am OK alone here in my apartment with all the modern conveniences but that is another story,

Indeed being away from today's facilities isn't going to be easy for us to adjust.

I haven't seen this but several lately has said how enjoyable it was. I might see if they have it on Netflix. I have a few survival skills but probably not enough to stay alive for very long.

You should definitely keep it a try. It's a good movie. They don't make such movies anymore.
