Just a Rambling Monday

I'm relaxing for a little while at my son's before I go over and check on my travel trailer and grab a change of clothes that I forgot this morning. I loaded up my senior 14 year-old kitty and we came to my son's while the heat wave is going on this week. He lives a bit over a mile at the river from where I am in a nice park. I swear traveling with Shelby Ann is like having to prep with a toddler. Litter box, puppy pads, scoop, food container, water bowl, food bowl, cat nip, shark tunnel and litter. My things weren't so hard to do. Small bag and figured I can get new clothes daily when I check on my travel trailer. My son is making a roast and it smells so good in here. It was started late so we'll have a later dinner than usual. Since we never go to bed early, it will be OK to eat at 7 pm. I'd get in his above ground pool but getting out would be a huge event. Getting in is easy. Pulling my lead bum out after being almost weightless would need a crane. They don't make ladders wide either. What's up with that? Not a lot to write about. Just been running all over, on the phone with appointments, and other plans. I'll pop in later. Been working on catching up to see what you all are doing today. Hope you are keeping cool. What's your favorite way to keep cool?

Before the pandemic, Pretty and I would head to the lake and swim most of the day or maybe all night and look at the stars. Now, we play online with the air conditioner keeping the house around 75F. Pretty had a doctor appointment today so I took her. Tomorrow, I have one and she'll go with me. (I think it's just a blood draw so it won't take too much time. Then I'll see if I can get my allergy shots at the hospital that I missed on Friday.)

I sit on my deck with an overhead fan turned on to cool.

Staying inside, usually. I've been trying to get back on track.

You are funny Loretta talking about getting out of the pool Glad you take such good care of your dear kitty though. You are a good Mama. Just staying inside is the best way for me to keep cool here.

I had been staying inside for most part. My great-aunt who lives across the street has a pool, but I don't swim. The only times I'm out is to get the mail (when we have some) and to go grocery shopping. I have four cats so yeah it's a pain to get them to the vet.

Mostly we just keep the A/C on. When we were house-sitting at a house with a pool, we used to jump (make that 'enter' rather than 'jump') in the pool on and off through the heat of the day.

I kept cool today in a way I haven’t in years. I ordered a grape Sonic slushee, and oh boy, did it cool me off. As a kid, I always got cherry, but my mom loved grape. I don’t normally ingest so much sugar, but I treated myself today, and I don’t regret it.

The temperature here today was 110 and now at 7:16 Pm it is 104. So we stayed home all day after we got 24 bottles of Powerade for 28 cents each.

I'm glad you're at your son's to get out of the extreme heat. Yeah, those ladders aren't a one size fits all. I would have trouble getting up one of those too. I keep my patio door open and hope for a nice breeze. I don't like the A/C, so I don't use it unless it's necessary, which it has been a couple of times this summer.
