How early is too early

Today is the day of the monthly plant meetings where K works. As a member of the management staff, she is required to attend. The first meeting is at 6 a.m., meaning she has to be at the plant by 5 a.m. so leaves home shortly after 4 a.m., which means getting up at 3 a.m. Or, as I call it, Stupid-dark thirty. The other members of staff live closer. They don't have to get up as early to be there on time. When I was still teaching, these early mornings were more of a bother. Not only did I wake up at 3 a.m. and then try to go back to sleep until 5:30 when my alarm would normally go off. Those mornings, I had to get up 20 minutes early to take care of the dogs because 3 a.m. was too early even for them. Now that I'm retired, it's not so much an issue. I don't get up until Sophie tells me she can't hold it anymore and needs to go out. This morning, this wasn't until 6:30. A much more reasonable time in my opinion. Is 3 a.m. too early to get up in the morning?

I'm awake all night and go to bed around 7 am. I woke up this morning at 8:30 am because I HAD to go pee. An hour and a half after I go to bed is WAY too early to get up! *sigh*

You would do well working on the night shift.

@Kandae11 I worked night shift for years until a judge told me I had to be home if Pretty was home. That was back when she was still in school.

The urinary imperative often strikes me within 90 minutes of going to bed and it is frustrating.

Yes 3 a.m. is too early and also 4 a.m. is too early, I always get up at 5 and it's fine for me.

I'm used to getting up at 5:30 and still get up with K most mornings.

@DWDavis I have always been up at 5, we kept the habit even after we both retired.

I guess it depends on each person. I like about 5AM ideally but sometimes get up earlier.

My father was one who got up before the sun. I do best if allowed to sleep until after 6 am.

I'm up all night so it doesn't matter to me; but 3 am is definitely too early for most people. Enjoy your day.

Yes! I'd never be able to get up that early! It definitely is stupid o'clock.

Unless l have to do something very important or travel a long way, my wake up time every day of the week is around 5 or 5.30am. Holidays, weekends the same.
