My neighbor infected with HIV delivered her baby but infected too

My neighbor who was infected with HIV with her liar husband delivered her baby girl the other month. And the news spread to my neighborhood like wildfire. After one month the baby was checked only to confirm she was infected with HIV. According to the doctor during pregnancy, HIV can pass through the placenta and infect the fetus. During her prenatal periods, she never told her ob that she has HIV. Also during giving birth and breastfeeding HIV passes to the baby. She does not know what to do. Many told her in the past to abort her pregnancy to avoid the risk of transmission which she did not do. Her life will never be the same again and her baby's life will always be condemned which is not her fault. How could this be solved? It seems a chain reaction, no ending problem. The mother must tell her baby when she grows up about having HIV. Do you think the child once grows mature can accept her fate?

That's unfortunate. I hope that the child as she grows up has to be made aware of the situation. She needs to know it as she has to manage with it and deal with it. She has to be prepared for it.

@cacay1 They will need a good support and motivation to carry on. Life is going to be tough for both mother and the baby, for no fault of theirs. I hope that they have enough support and strength to lead a quality life and one with dignity.

@arunima25 , her family, and the family of her ex provided them with financial needs. She supposed not to accept but her family advised her not to hate her in laws because they are innocent.

I am surprised she was not tested, they test women here no need that they say that they are contaminated to the doctor. Poor baby!

@LadyDuck , I think her OB knew about her HIV and she just told a lie to the neighbors just to cover up the reality that her baby could be infected too with HIV. It is very impossible not to know because of the blood test

@LadyDuckDuck, that's right what kind of OB didn't prognose the HIV during pregnancy or prenatal sessions.

That's sad. Even I am surprised how did she hide this as in hospitals HIV test is done along with the blood test as they also don't want to risk a newborn. Does she still live with her husband?

@sjvg1976 , no, she left her husband the next day after their wedding after she was told that he has HIV. It was too late for her. She was cheated on by her husband. They sued the guy but up to this time, he is still at large.

Over here, these days, there are good meds for HIV now. This is very sad what happened. As long as the child receives love in life..so sad.

She doesn't have a choice but to accept it. I hope they find a cure for HIV before she's grown so she can live a normal life.

I heard the virus can be controlled within six months through HIV treatment. I do hope further medical advances will happen so that they can lead normal lives. The child is suffering for no fault of hers.

@dya80dya , Let us hope and much better for the mom to educate her child about HIV so that when she turned 16 she can always tell her child she is infected with HIV before she could have a boyfriend.

That's unfortunate. The poor child needs to be aware that she has this sickness when she grows up. She has to accept the fate and has the courage to deal with it.

@ogbenishyna, yes, they will survive but the society will defame and dishonor them. They're only victims.
