Dance Tunes - #8 - The Stroll

1958 was the year that the Diamonds came out with a song called "The Stroll". It was a slow rock 'n' roll dance which consisted of two lines of dancers...men on one side and women on the other. Each paired couple then does an elaborate dance between the two rows of dancers. The song was written by Nancy Lee and Clyde Otis and hit #1 on the Cashbox Chart. "The Stroll" was first performed to "C. C. Rider" by Chuck Willis on American Bandstand. The video below is done by a group of teenagers on American Bandstand and does not really show the fancy steps that I have seen done in other venues. Photo Credit: Pixabay - Sigh. My husband remembers the way they dressed so vividly. He was 17 when that song came out.
