This week we have been graced with decent temperatures for August in NC. Apparently, today will be the last day of such.
Tomorrow and Saturday, we are expecting the mercury (even though Hg is no longer used in thermometers) to reach 97F+ with heat indexes in the 100s.
Then, on Monday, a cold front will bring storms and cooler temperatures.
The good news is that Tropical Storm Franklin appears to be completely confused about how to behave and after an eastward hook is looking to plow straight north up the mid-Atlantic.
What is the near-term forecast at your latitude and longitude?

Next week we will be getting temps in the 70s and high 60s...my favorite temps. These are fall temperatures. I look forward to cooler temps; but I don't like what comes after fall!!! Have a good weekend.

@LindaOHio I had enough of snow when I worked as a snowmaker at a ski area one winter right after I got out of the Army and before I went back to college. As for the cold, I'd rather not, thank you.

Same here, stay cool buddy. That hurricane, tropical storm but for us its a hurricane dammit. It was so nice. 75 on that day in August. Its the coolest day in August I ever seen. Then next few days were so nice, low 80s, clear as all can be but now temps shooting back up. Low 90s, now but will be 102 and 103 next week. More hurricanes for California please.

@DWDavis Lancaster got hit hard and much more of desert that even us. We on much higher ground, The San Berdo Mountains split most storms for us, we do not get hit hard very often. I heard Lancaster had street flooding but does not seem any homes got flooded from my friends anyway. I know a few people and they said just like intersections was a bit flooded and could drive through. People from sound of things built the houses expecting that kind of thing but of course depends if you not so poor.

@crossbones27 My son's house is on a small rise above street level. I think it'll be okay. Thanks for the info.

We have 101F with a RealFeel of 111F. It's hot and sunny today. We should be cooling off by Saturday with a 30% chance of rain. Then Sunday has a 70% chance of thunderstorms and a high around 80F.
If we can, we need to mow the front yard again Saturday if it doesn't rain before the dew dries off the grass.
I hope you're enjoying your relatively cooler temps there.

Franklin can steer clear of Florida. Thankfully you won't be impacted. We need a cool down here.

It looks like Arkansas hot weather is coming your way. Arkansas is going to start cooling down some starting on Sunday.
