Walking + Texting = Danger

It sounds like common sense that walking while texting can endanger ourselves. The obvious fact is still being ignored by some people. A perfect example is my friend, who was hit by a car for this reason. It was a big lesson for him, and he promised not to text while mobilizing on foot. A study had proposed a feature called 'texting lock.' The main function is to lock the mobile phone if it is detected that the user is texting while walking. What do you think about this proposed new feature? Did you know someone who put himself or herself in danger in this kind of situation? Image Credit: images-prod.healthline.com

I agree with you. In my view, the local goverment should create an educational program to let the locals be aware of the danger of being like this.

I would disable that feature. I walk and text in the house or in stores all the time. If my phone wasn't functional, I'd return it and get my money back. Anyone who walks in the street and texts deserves to get hit by a vehicle.

I think you are right. These people should learn a big lesson from being hit by cars. I felt bad for my friend, who was a victim of his wrongdoing.

@DaddyEvil Actually, he got a leg fracture at that time. It was a big lesson.

@Shavkat As long as he wasn't hurt too badly, then he should learn a lesson and that will make the lesson stay with him.

That is one of the dumbest things. How does anyone expect to keep themselves safe if they aren’t paying attention to their surroundings. No offense to your friend.

Goodness, what an awful thing to happen to your friend, but I hope he learned his lesson as well that his safety comes first before anything else. How's he doing? I also see some videos of people running into poles or bumping to other people because they are too busy doing something on their phones to pay attention to where they're walking. If it's really important, they can move to the side, stop, and finish whatever it is that cannot wait then they can start walking again.

He got a leg fracture, but he is okay now. He had a big lesson that cannot be ignored. Whenever he sees someone doing it, he talked to them voluntarily.

It's a good feature. A lot of accidents can be averted. Have a good day. Take care

As I ponder the idea, it would be effective for those who do this.

At some point, it is better to have signage about not to do texting while walking on the streets or even in their cars while driving.

People should know better that when you walk you must look at the street and what happens around you.

It is a trend that most people indulge. Self-control can be done if they will.
