For two months I’ve looked at songs that were thought inappropriate for airplay because of their title (like this one) in light of 9/11, songs that were objected to by various groups, and songs that got an outright “NO WAY are we playing that” ban. Tomorrow we’ll go for a much lighter theme. Meanwhile, to nobody’s surprise, will you look at who’s sitting atop the list of my favorites that were on the Clear Channel Memorandum!! #1: Burning Down the House - Talking Heads David Byrne went to a P-Funk concert and George Clinton was shouting something about “burn down the house!” Byrne took the phrase and he and the rest of Talking Heads turned it into Talking Heads’ biggest hit. Funky, groovy, danceable…they did P-Funk proud in this great tune. I saw the other day that the members of the Heads are reuniting…not for a concert tour, but for a presser to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this album. The album was a success, and it spawned the “Stop Making Sense” tour/album/movie. It still makes me want to get up and dance. Thanks for reading.
