Super Blue Moon

We had a rare phenomenon take place on Wednesday August 30, 2023. It was this month's second full moon. It was not only a rare blue moon but the brightest and largest of the year. This happens about every ten years and, there won't be another appear in a pair until January and March 2037. Richard Nolle, an astrologer first used the term "supermoon" in 1979, although the scientific term is "perigee-syzygy". This is a full moon that occurs when the moon is closest(or at perigee)to Earth. This moon can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than one that is farthest(or at apogee)from the Earth. The moon being called blue has nothing to do with the color of the moon but with the timing of full moons during the year. Normally one occurs only about every two or three years.
