I admire the work of the Tampa Bay Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) since they are concerned about the welfare of a flamingo that was in the ocean on Friday morning after Hurricane Idalia passed through the area.
An employee of the Tampa Bay SPCA saw the flamingo off St. Pete Beach and he managed to save the flamingo who was swimming away from the beach around 800 yards from Blind Pass.
The flamingo must have sent away from the beach due to the force of the hurricane force winds. The flamingo was in bad condition when he was rescued by the employee.
The flamingo was taken by the employees to an animal shelter at Largo Florida until Saturday when the flamingo will be taken to a rehabilitation center.
Special thanks went to Pinellas County commissioner aide Bobby Shay Lee organized a boat trip to access beach erosion when the flamingo was located.

You are right that we need to take care of animals when they get in trouble during a natural disaster.
