Good morning from this side of the planet.. It's 10:30 AM here and I am done with the work at school. Had two one to one sessions with children and one monthly catch up meet with one parent. All went well. Now, it's time to leave for home. But I need to wait for a while as I have to collect some stationary items and also take a stock of few things in the stationary store. I will take a break for some time and then get to that work. One non teaching staff has gone to buy few stationary items and he should be here in another half an hour. So, let me use this waiting time to myLot There are three major festivals coming this month..Janamashtmi, Ganesh Chaturthi and Eid. Janamashtmi is this week only on Wednesday and we have no holiday. We plan to have a half day celebration in the school with some songs, dance and sweets. We do have holidays on 18th on account of Ganesha festival and on 28th for Eid. So, now with these festivals, I have to plan for artwork, decorations around the school and get it executed with students. I had done some research to get some ideas online. And had accordingly placed an order for stationary. Once it is here, I can start the preparation. I have called few middle school children to come and help. It's tracing and cutting work. Once that is done, primary school children can paint them and younger pre primary can do sticking work for embellishments. And then rest other middle school ones can do the decoration items, some can do rangoli. So, it's a full community involvement. I will be busy on Tuesday and Wednesday executing this plan after my morning therapy sessions. Now, I have to look for some different artwork ideas for the coming festivals. I have few in mind but that will be once I am done with one falling on Wednesday. Though, I am too busy , I am excited as I love art and craft. And always love to decorate and make things beautiful. I would have loved to share the pollakam ( flower rangoli) that we made last week with High school students around the school and also the special cooking that these children did for the whole school. Since, High school students are busy now, these celebrations won't include them. They can just watch and enjoy younger ones doing it. That's all the blabbering for now. It's a new week with new hopes. Happy week to you all Stay happy and healthy

That's a lot of festivals. The teachers have their work cut out for them. But then it is very much a source of joy and it must be fun to be a part of organising it.

@much2say Yes, one is over. It went really well with wonderful decoration and celebration. We do the artwork for Ganesha in the next two days. It's on Monday and we have a long weekend. Not any celebration for the next two, just art and craft related to it. I am sorry about you and your daughter. What happened? I hope you both are doing good now. Take care

We live in land of festivals.. We have them every month. We can't celebrate all in grand way. So, every year we choose five for grand celebrations and rest for just some story telling, cooking, artwork etc. Christmas always gets grand celebration being the only Christian festival that we know. We include from other faiths too each year.

I am a special educator, counselor and art therapist. I do get involved in artwork and decoration on such occassions. My teaching to limited to special needs and children facing academic difficulties. I don't look after stationary store. I just check to see if what we need is there in stock, if not I need to place the order in time. All teachers are allowed to do that. There is a special budget for festival and celebrations.

Children love to be engaged in any community thing..be it a service or festival celebration. It comes so natural to them. And it's a lot of learning there. I am happy to see children being enthusiastic and taking the responsibility to make things happen. They own it.

It was indeed a hectic schedule. Yesterday, I had a long day at work. Doing this for hours together with children left me exhausted. And today we did the last part before celebration. Glad that all ended well with a good celebration.
