I Missed Out on Disneyland

I was watching a special on Disney+ about the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland and it reminded me that I missed out on going to Disneyland. When I was twelve years old I had gone to California with my mother, aunt, and grandmother to visit my great-aunt June. My grandmother had visited her sister several times and they had taken her to Knotsberry Farm and some other places which she really enjoyed and told me all about it. Auntie June lived near Disneyland and we had planned to go to Disneyland. Of course, I was excited and went to bed thinking about how fun it was going to be. As my luck would have it on that day my female parts decided to start my menses. Ugh! So, as well as being embarrassed for messing up Auntie's sheets I had horrible cramps. Miserable and bummed was I.

I'm sorry that happened. Pretty and I went to Disneyland when she was six or seven years old and spent two days exploring the park. Then we went to Knott's Berry Farm for a day and then to Magic Mountain for a day. I was worn out by then and just wanted to stay in our hotel room for a day or two but of course, Pretty wasn't happy about staying in the room... So we went to the hotel pool and met some of the other guests. We had a great time in California.

I doubt I would have loved through that. I'm not into crowds at all so going doesn't do a thing for me. Isn't it rather expensive?

@celticeagle Pretty still doesn't do crowds but I was with her. We were on vacation. Everything feels expensive when people are on vacation.

Oh man, as a 12 year old, I'd be quite disappointed too! I hope you had an opportunity to go at another time. We are not terribly far from Disneyland, but our kids didn't get to go as much as we did when we were kids . . . it's super expensive and super crowded these days - every single day of the year!

Only time I ever wanted to go. Never had another opportunity. I wouldn't like it now cause I don't like crowds.

@celticeagle In this day and age too, crowds are just the worst. We would love to go to Disneyland again, but the way things are, we just don't think it's worth it to go.
