Had a Blast at an Estate Sale Today

I had an amazing experience at an estate sale this morning. I wish I had about 4 hours to stay there and go through everything but I only had about 90 minutes. . This home was full of stuff covering 2 floors, a basement and a garage. The people that owned it had lots of collections like Dept. 56 houses, Mill Creek Village houses, small cars, Beanie babies, and lots of other things. There must have been at least 60 pairs of women's and men's shoes in the closet, most of which were in their original boxes. These people must have been a huge fan of Christmas because there were a great number of shelves filled with Christmas decorations. I love going through old basements filled with stuff and this house did not disappoint.
And since the sale started yesterday, everything was 1/2 price! I was in Heaven.
So here is what I got:
1 autographed first-edition book by Jimmy Carter ($1.50)
1 first edition Little House on the Prairie Cookbook ($1.50)
1 Set of 6 Made in Germany Waechtersbach mugs ($10.00)
5 Ralph Lauren and Martha Stewart sets of pillow shams ($5 each)
For a total of $38!
I am sure I will make all that money back on eBay and probably triple my investment.
If I do well on these things I will definitely update you. I just love going to estate sales. It's the most fun I can have spending money because I buy to resell, and I can always make a profit on what I buy.
What was the most fun you had today?

Aw, that's nice. I used to substitute for a while also. So did you retire and now you sub at the same school?

@Kouponkaren I didn't actually retire. I quit after 18 years and started subbing. I've almost been subbing as long as I taught now.
We moved to a new area some time ago. So, i don't go to my old school any more.
I go to one school the most, and have a favourite class. Although, they are not all in the same class this year.

@Kouponkaren Yes, both actors were in the movie. It was pretty good. Not as good as the first two, but I was never bored, and it did have a surprise in it I didn’t expect.
It was a little sad because one of the original actors (who played Nia’s dad) has passed on now, so that was a little poignant, but I bet you’d enjoy it.

Aw, that was nice of them. How was the movie? Were the same main characters in it...played by John Corbett and Nia Vardalos?

@Kouponkaren Somebody near me has vintage metal trains for sale. Red caboose, black coal car, the engine. Just pieces but I am so tempted!

I wish the same thing. We only have a shelf that's about 8 feet long and it's above our landing on the stairs. My husband thinks we have enough but I am sure we can squeeze a few extra buildings in there, LOL!

I have never been to an estate sale but it is definitely on my to do list. Last one I saw I was thinking of going to I had something else planned for that day so it didn't work out. They don't seem to be as prevalent as yard sales.

Thanks, and I hope the same. I think I am going to write everything I bought down in my eBay notebook and then keep track of how much I earn in profit on each one. That's fun...if I do well on them.
