I won't need to eat for a while

The lunch K prepared for Son2 and GF's visit was delicious. She prepared chicken parmesan with spaghetti and marinara with Texas garlic toast to sop up the sauce. There was a tossed salad to start things off and a dessert of apple spice cake with caramel cream frosting served a la mode. Every bite, from the salad to the cake, was a delight. My contribution to dinner was washing all the dishes, pots, pans, and utensils used to prepare and consume this wonderful meal. The plates, bowls, and eating utensils went into the rarely used dishwasher. I washed the pots, pans, and larger utensils in the sink. Oh, my dishpan hands. K and I will skip supper tonight. I feel so full I might not even be hungry for breakfast tomorrow. Have you ever enjoyed such a big meal that you felt like you wouldn't eat for days after?

I sure have and my tummy has often suffered. However I remember when I was a growing child I could stuff myself with a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving and then go looking for a turkey sandwich that same night,

When I was a teen, my mother used to joke that I had a hollow leg, and that's why I could eat so much.

@DWDavis I was maybe about 6 years old and my mom told me to chew more slowly so everything goes down easy. Then she noticed that I was standing by the table and asked me Why? I said I figured it I stood up to eat I could get more in me,

@DWDavis That's pretty good! My metabolism is on the high side . . . I could probably eat again in a couple hours.

Nah. Even if I've had a nice, big meal, I'd still eat at the next meal. I guess I have a fast metabolism...

The only time K and I eat so much is when family comes to visit. When it's just us, we make more reasonably sized meals.

@LadyDuck K and I both skipped supper last night. I did make a light breakfast of a bagel and scrambled eggs this morning.

@DWDavis My husband and I eat very small portions, but when family came it was so much food that we avoided to have food for a couple of days.

Absolutely. There was a cafe near the hospital that used to serve a magnificent huge gigantic breakfast. We would go there ocassionally if we had a meeting to go to. I could not eat a thing for 2 days after. The poor lady passed away recently but her son has taken over it & runs it in the same manner as she did.

I guess I feel like that after each family get together that involves a meal. I promise you, when my maternal grandmother cooked, her goal was to make us go three days without us needing to eat.

Yes, I certainly have had some big meals in my time. A dishwasher is a great device after a dinner party with multiple courses.

That usually happens from Thanksgiving through New Year's. We tend to overeat when there's so much good stuff around. I'm glad you had such a good meal. Have a good week.

When our family used to have big holiday dinners, I felt this way. So much food for sure.
