Nice or not nice?

I used to have a coworker who wasn’t very popular in the office—let’s call her G. G was a tough manager, and everyone disliked her strict aura. But she was always really nice to me. Still, because everyone hated her, I didn’t want to be labeled as the manager’s pet or anything like that. So when people started talking about G behind her back, I just stayed quiet. I know that wasn’t great.
Fast forward to now: two of my current colleagues and I were talking about our previous companies, coworkers, and things like that. I asked them if they knew G, and I was really surprised when they said yes—and immediately started singing her praises. They said she was really nice and kind, and that they loved working with her.
I was like, Are we talking about the same G? And yes, we were. It turns out G was genuinely kind to them, too. Thinking about it, G was also nice to me—I was just caught in the middle back then.
Anyway, I took a photo of the three of us and sent it to G. We’re still connected on FB.
How about you? Do you know anyone who is hated by everyone but is actually nice in person?

@sol_cee I know several mean people - my last boss was one... but she wasn't nice to anyone and I don't know how she got her job. She was fired a few months before I was.
Not a whole lot going on here. I need to wash the dishes and make supper after while. What are you doing?

I think of this fellow skater we knew . . . people either really liked her, or really hated her. I think some were envious of her because she was in her early 40s and living off a huge family inheritance - happily married, nice house, could travel to skate, do whatever she wanted all day - just lived a charmed life. But she was also extremely moody - she could be nice or mean to you depending on how she felt. So even though she had many friends - even me - there were times when she just wasn't a pleasant person to be around. Turned out she had some rare brain disease (which may have contributed to her moodiness) and she passed away by her mid 40s.

Not exactly the same situation. But yes, I have seen people judging someone too quickly with few of their traits. It's rightly said that "Don't judge a book by it's cover.". One might be a tough manager but a kind person.

@sol_cee Actually certain things spread like fire through word of mouth. And people make a prejudice view.

You are so kind. My husband surely gains to be known, he looks very strict and grumpy, but he is a very nice person.
