They must really love dogs at that complex

So, I did my apartment shop today. When I went there, there was a dog guarding the leasing office. I mean it wasn't acting in a threatening manner or anything, but it also wasn't wagging its tail. It made me a little nervous. I mentioned it to the person who was sitting in the office who mentioned how sweet the dog was...OK...Later the dog was smelling my legs, my feet, everything. Then I guess he though we were friends, and started wagging its stubby tail. I am not the biggest fan of strange dogs..Whoever is manning the office should at least call out, and say are you OK with dogs? He is really nice or something similar. Not everyone is a big dog person. He did seem nice though, and a senior citizen. Oh well, what can you do? I could mention it in my report, but I think I will just say they should ask if someone is OK with dogs. I don't want the dog to have to stay home. I just think they should monitor him a bit more I remember the last time I was at this place...they had a dog grooming van there. I think they were giving free grooms for the residents who had dogs.

Yes, exactly. He's an animal and they are unpredictable. I told them he probably smells cat on me. They said "Oh he loves kitties." Groovy, and what if he didn't?

@RebeccasFarm It is the customer who is renting...and they don't answer to the dogs. I don't think the dogs pay their salaries.

I’m not comfortable with strange dogs either, not a good place for a dog in a leasing office even if he is friendly.

No, and they are apparently clueless about it

I always assume in scenarios like yours, they would be way too worried about getting sued to let a potential threatening dog to be in plain sight. I get excited when I see a dog at a location, but I always ask before petting it, just in case.

@snowy22315 You must have met a jaded dog. He's seen and done it all, and now nothing fazes it.

@AmbiePam Ha, been around the block a few times...I guess...lol. I sort of think he was more on the order of a pampered pet..

I didnt think the dog was unfriendly, but it was just standing their staring at me...not wagging its tail, or acting happy.

I agree with you. I would be a little concerned too.

It would have been different if he was playing with a toy or something and just looked up and wagged his tail or something

now days, some people actually have a take your dog to work day. My husbands office does it on Friday, it's strange to me. Not something I wold want to deal with as in other peoples dogs, or do with my own.

Well, I guess that is OK for some work environments...not sure this was the one right one.

@snowy22315 just seems strange, but then, I come from a time when you don't take your dogs everywhere and kids don't go to work with you ether.. You don't do personal calls during work time, your phone should be left in you pocket until your break, or work is over. customers are the reason you have a job and are your number one priority.

I don't think they would have an unfriendly dog in the leasing office, but as I said not everyone wants to deal with dogs. That is part of the reason I do this kind of thing...I like a predictable environment, and not dealing with uknown animals.

@just4him They really don't belong there. Unless they live there and are just saying hello to the staff or something.

@snowy22315 True. I don't mind dogs. The ones here are friendly. Though there aren't any in the leasing office.

Speaking of grooming van, I had seen one in my city. I had a photo of it but cannot share it here. First thing, we cannot see it here if posted. Regardless, I assumed that the business will not last long.

They have been there for years. It is a nice complex other than their strange attachment to dogs.

I agree, that person was not professional and not even polite. I fear strange dogs I am not comfortable being in a room with a strange dog.

I am mentioning it in the report. I mean the comfort of people visiting the apartments is what should be at the top of their lists, not making themselves and their dog happy.

I have never owned a dog I have been a cat lover for all my life. However, I do remember that I always loved animals and somehow animals understood that, So an interesting incident occurred one time in a car parking garage in NYC. Mostly all parking garages had dobermans to help out against car thieves and other incidents. It was a long time ago but I still remember it today. Friends had driven me and my mother into the city and were parking their car and we were walking to an event. I saw the Doberman there and he seemed to be watching me, When we returned to get the car I asked the guard on duty if he could introduce me to the dog. He said sure but must have wondered what in the world I wanted to be introduced to a Doberman for. The dog was ecstatic he scared the guard and everyone he jumped up and put his paws on my shoulders and licked my whole cheek. The guard was speechless he had never witnessed anything like this the dog and I had found instant friendship,

I could have been more friendly to the dog I guess, but honestly I just didn't want to have to deal with him.

I am OK with dogs, as long as I know them. I don't like dogs I don't know...especially if they are just staring at me like they are sizing me up or something

I'm not fussed about big dogs either until I've been introduced or assured that they are okay. Dog-owners don't seem to understand that not everyone is smitten by their dogs.
