Would you pay to use Twitter/X?

Elon Musk has said that he plans to charge ALL Twitter users "a small amount" in an attempt to reduce the number of bots on the platform. He caused a stink months ago when he revamped the verification system and basically gave anyone who paid $8 a blue check which means the account is verified. It also reduced ads and gave their tweets more prominent positions. It was a nightmare. People started creating fake accounts and posting crazy stuff. Someone impersonated the drug maker Eli-Lilly and announced that insulin would now be available for free. It cost the company millions of dollars in like one day.
Now he wants EVERYONE to pay to use the platform which is still a complete hot mess after Musk took it over. In fact just this morning Donald Trump Jr's account was hacked and posted all sorts of insane tweets including that his father had died and he himself would be running for president in 2024.
And he thinks I'm going to want to give him my credit card information? Yeah I don't think so. Not happening. I will leave Twitter before I pay for it.

I'm not paying for it. There are other platforms that won't cost me anything, and their owner isn't determined to destroy the company completely. I doubt that Twitter/X/whatever will survive.

@spiderdust I have no interest in X. If all "legit" platforms fold, I suppose us "normal" people would have to speak "in code." I hope that does not happen.

@TheHorse Yeah, that is the drawback, isn't it? Although I don't use his particular social media platform. You're right, though, that I might not always agree with the ideas of whoever runs a platform that I use.

I never used Twitter. Now I definitibly will not attempt to have it. I don´t like Musk. If you ask me about the 3 musketeers I´d say Trump, Musk and Bolsonaro.

@LeaPea2417 Yes, that account still exists. Many have told me they tried to contact me there and thought I was ignoring/rejecting them. Facebook DOES "change lives." In this case, for the worse.

@TheHorse Elon Musk talked about his experience growing up with Asperger's syndrome. His "ghost writer" presented a book on Elon Musk a few days ago. Musk had an abusive father, very aggressive. He was badly bullied and beaten when he went to school, he was in the hospital for weeks. He wants money and power to show to the others that he is successful despite his many problems.

Musk is an odd dude. I think HE said he might have what we used to call "Asperger's Syndrome." I agree with some of his politics, but not all of it. But he is just another money-maker to me. Not someone I want to invite over to Sunday music jam session.

I briefly had a Twitter account a few years back, didn't think much of it and deleted it. Now Lone Skum is in charge you couldn't pay me to use it!

I go on X from time to time and read many articles but am not involved much there. Musk walked back his comments today saying all members will not be charged. That would be insane. Too many people are just jealous that he is rich and successful. If you don't like what he is doing, walk away. Just sayin'.

No, I won't pay a dime. I am curious, if you have an account there and don't pay, will you even be able to log into your account and just view it (even though you won't be able to post anything)?
