People continue to surprise me as I am dealing with my dad's tragic accident and his passing on Labor Day. Some of the people I expected to hear from didn't reach out and others who I have never even had a conversation waited hours in line to speak to our family. My sister and mom keep saying "there are good people in the world" and I can see that it is true. I walked into work this morning and found an Amazon box on my lab bench. I know I order a lot from Amazon but I never have it delivered to work. Supplies I order don't come from Amazon. I was totally confused. I opened it up and discovered 3 bottles of Ribena, a box of Yorkshire tea, a bag of pear drops, and a bag of gummy candy. I spent my junior year of college studying in northern England and the goodies were from the woman who was my best friend while I was there. The message said that she was sorry to hear about my dad and that she hoped the contents would remind me of Lancaster and make me smile. They certainly did. When I finally got down to the office I found a sympathy card from a former coworker who is now retired. I texted her to thank her for the card. Her response was: "He was the only dad I knew of that would wake up to go to the gym at 6am to work out with his daughter. What a great man." That made me smile because it is true. Yes he enjoyed working out, getting healthy, getting strong, etc. but he equally loved going to the gym to spend time with my sister and me. I remember that first summer of COVID and he literally would have us at the 6 am workouts. I was like "Dad it's summer! I'm on vacation!" I can only be thankful for those who have gone out of their way to be kind. It has been very much appreciated not only by me but also by my mother. I share these gestures and comments with my mother and she loves hearing them.

That is wonderful and so glad that these things can make you feel better. I am happy for you getting to share things with your dad as an adult. I would have greatly enjoyed that myself,

I would have loved to send you a sympathy card; but I did not have your address. I'm glad so many people have been so kind. Have a good weekend. Also, I'm glad you are acknowledging cards and gifts. So many people don't do that these days.

It helps so much to know that people truly do care. It sounds like your Dad made a positive impact on many lives. What a special man he must have been.
