Downsizing

I hate change.
Our daughter is very adventurous, always changing everything she can. She laughingly said one time, "Maybe that's why I've been married so many times."
When she was young, I'd come home from work and her bedroom would be completely rearranged.
I'm just the opposite. For example, even though I adore purses and totes, I hate to have to change everything over to a new one.
But today I bought two new purses because I'm being forced to downsize. My regular purse isn't huge by any means, but it's just too heavy right now.
I carry it in my left hand which is the side my injured foot is on. It's also the side I got a steroid injection in today in my hip. It's become very painful in my hip to walk the last week, so I went to the doctor today.
Everything considered, I know I don't need to carry a heavy purse. I don't want to, but life (and purses) change, unfortunately.
Any big or small changes in your life recently?

@1creekgirl You're telling me! I was carrying it around one day. I was beginning to wonder if it had bricks in it .

Not really. George has been taking on a lot of small projects. Including putting up a cork board he painted for me.

@1creekgirl I think so. I'd post a photo, but I'd have to get off my iPhone, first.

Just babysitting this weekend while my daughter competes in a pool tournament. Her team was ranked #1 going into this tourney. They have a couple more competitions to go before the big one in Vegas! And if it is during school, I'll be back here babysitting again!
I need to change purses! I have way too much in mine and it is too heavy. I hate swapping purses!!

@1creekgirl They were eliminated tonight! It was a good run and they will be better next year.
Good for you! I need to do that in this coming week for sure, especially since the season is also changing!

@kareng Sorry they didn't win. Hope your Sunday is great. We wanted to go to a friend's church this morning, but this hip thing makes walking excruciating off and on. I'm taking Prednisone, but no help yet.

Congrats on your daughter's tournament. I think Vegas was where our son went years ago for a pool tournament, but they didn't win that one.
I changed over to a much smaller purse tonight. I love purses, but I don't like changing over, either.

@1creekgirl I think it is. I can feel that it makes me feel better. If you have the chance, you can try it. It is not that fancy because it is tasteless and changed the water to blue.

Has the blue tea helped? You're right, Christmas will be here before we know it.

I'm not a big fan of changing things around... I've carried the same wallet/checkbook combo since I was 32 years old... (It's older than my daughter.
)
My first wife carried a HUGE purse and complained all the time about having to carry it... She tried to make me carry it once... I left it sitting on the floor in the mall as we walked off. (I'd told her to only bring her wallet but she insisted she had to carry the purse.) When she finally noticed I wasn't carrying it, she freaked out, screaming that it had all our money in it. I told her it didn't have any of my money in it... My money was in the wallet in my pocket and I wasn't carrying her purse around for her... She raced back to the area where she tried to make me carry her purse and it was still sitting right where I'd set it down. She never tried to make me carry it again.
(When my second wife tried to hand me her purse, I told her that story... She decided it was better to carry her own purse.
)

Your purse downsize sounds sensible. I used to carry EVERYTHING in a big purse when the kids were little - for just in case. But with the pandemic, I only wanted to carry the bare essentials to the store, so I started using fanny packs . . . and then eventually shoulder purses (so I can feel more feminine and fashionable again!!!). I can carry minimally now . . . and the good thing is my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore!

@1creekgirl It's nice to not carry such a heavy load - easier on the shoulder

Oh Vicki, you poor love. I am so sorry for your hip pain.
Thats good they can give you the shot.
Mine are killing me lately but I am not sure what the issue is.
Anyway I am taking Osteo biflex.
Not too much of changes except for the apartment manager quitting here so that makes things really messed up.
How is your dear daughter by the way Vicki?

I pray that med will help your pain.
Do you know the new manager yet? Hopefully he/she will be a good one.
Tammy and Robert are on a cruise, were supposed to be in tomorrow, but that storm will delay it until Sunday. She still has good days and bad. We couldn't communicate this week, so hopefully she's been able to enjoy it. I'm so glad they're close as a brother and sister.

@RebeccasFarm Have you thought about applying for that job? You'd be good at that.
It's been a comfort over the years to know that Tammy and Robert would raise each other's children if needed. Of course, Tammy's husband would take care of their son and Nathan.

I'm like you, not a fan of changes which is ironic as that is what life it consistent change in small and big ways.
I guess the biggest change for us will be when we finally let go of our van, the transmission went out on it at the end of June. We got it cleaned out and will be calling tomorrow to see if we can get it gone. We've had it 21 years (its23 years old). That's going to be a different look, not seeing it in our driveway anymore.

I got a steroid shot in my hip and an xray. Plus a pack of prednisone pills. So far so good, although I just got up, so we'll see. Still dealing with the infection.
Hope y'all don't get any of this bad storm off the coast. Tammy and Robert were supposed to be back from their cruise tomorrow, but now it will be Sunday.

@1creekgirl We might get some of the outer bands of Ophelia. We could really use the rain. I'm sorry you have so much going on physically. I pray you get better soon. Have a nice weekend.
