These days with upgrades mobile phones have features that have as many as four cameras. I have yet to understand the benefit of that many cameras and how does one use them and for what purpose Can anyone explain? Can we not manage taking photos with a phone that has one camera. I have feature phones that have no facility for taking photos but I have a nice sony digital 360 camera that produces wonderful results No plans to go for either an upgraded mobile nor buy a new camera. I am contented. What about you.

@allknowing Mobile phone camera mostly used by Instagram reel creators , some YouTube creators , Selfie lovers , Students. But the Photography lovers always use Digital Cameras for better clarity & multiple features. I don't own a Camera.. Once I was a TIKTOK, TIKI , SNACKVIDEO , LIKEE video creator..I used my mobile phone for creating such videos..

@allknowing Yes I agree , for their own interest Camera guys capture . Viewers had no such eagerness to watch the photography in galleries as in earlier days. My friend is a photographer, he owned a website from where he sells his stuffs .

My Samsung Galaxy S9+ takes good pictures with its one camera. I also own a Nikon D3500 digital SLR that takes awesome pictures but rarely use it unless it's a planned photo shoot.

I thought it was excessive, too, but it turns out that a single camera module doesn't cover everything that most people want to photograph with their phones. A "normal" camera would have a larger, more versatile lens that would cover more than one of those things, but you can't really put one on a phone without ruining the profile of it. So phone manufacturers listened and started including cameras that cover wide angles for panoramic photos, telephoto for close ups of distant things, macro for extreme close up photos, etc.

I did not know those extra cameras were for different coverages. So they are different types of lenses kind of Right?

@allknowing Yep, each of the cameras has a different lens that lets it capture a different field of view than the others.

We don't have cameras now, just use our cell phones. I read that the reason we look better in person than in photos is because the human eye has many more pixels than anything man made.

I have noticed that. No matter how focused I am with my camera it is not what I see with my eyes.

I have a digital camera that I use when I go off on holidays. Its useful for me because of the memory card where I can take a lot more pics. When I am on holiday I prefer keeping my phone in my purse.

There is a kind of competition going on among the producers of gadgets. They cram as many features as possible into one thing which you need only for a special, limited purpose. Most customers haven't got the foggiest idea what all the different features are for. But there are also customers who think that, for example, a camera with lots of different features makes good photos. Hah! If only! I've seen the most horrible photos made with expensive cameras and brillant photos made with simple ones. The eye of the photographer is more important than many features of the camera.

It is indeed sad that most upgraded features are never made use of and yes it is the eyes of a photographer gets you the best shot

That is the sad part of upgrades. Not just you there will many who must owning more sohisticated gadgets that what you have but they will not know even ten percent of the features that are there after the upgrade. Question comes. Why upgrade?
